no way fukudome should be on the team, there are at least 5 better NL outfielders numbers wise:carlos leematt hollidaynate mcclouthjason bayrick ankiel
7/6/2008 3:04:16 PM
i'll probably get flamed for this, but MLB needs to cut its season by at least 20 games, shits too damn long
7/6/2008 3:04:20 PM
also, jeter as an all star this year is a HUGE jokeand pedroia over kinsler also makes me lolfan voting is so dumb[Edited on July 6, 2008 at 3:05 PM. Reason : ]
7/6/2008 3:04:57 PM
Yeah its pretty horrible. I like the idea of fan voting but it needs to be for the backups, not the starters. Shits backwards. Kinsler definitely should have been in, Jeter shouldn't be there, personally I think Morneau should be in over Youk, Milton is missing... too many holes in it. Personally I think the NL is gonna destroy the AL as they seem to have more guys chosen on skill not on being a yankee/red sox player, with the exception of Soto and Kosuke (I think it should've been McCann/Holliday).
7/6/2008 3:12:48 PM
ALC Mauer MIN1B Youkilis BOS2B Pedroia BOS3B ARod NYSS Jeter NYOF Hamilton TEXOF Ramirez BOSOF Ichiro SEADH Ortiz BOSjust make boston the damn AL squad geez
7/6/2008 3:21:32 PM
I originally thought Jeter shouldn't be there but the American League is just pitifully dreadful at the shortstop position. Young and Jeter are the only two guys who would be in the Top 8 in the NL, OPS wise...
7/6/2008 3:34:28 PM
What a joke.....Ian Kinsler is possibly the best offensive player in the game right now and isn't starting?Pedroia is not even near Kinsler. Least they voted Hamilton in.Ortiz/Griffey/Soriano getting the votes they did is pathetic as well.
7/6/2008 4:29:47 PM
Ortiz starting is a jokeFukudome starting is a jokeYour AL BOS NYY All Stars versus your NL CHI All Stars
7/6/2008 4:32:47 PM
there's a lot of room in this thread for "I hate the Cubs" posts
7/6/2008 4:32:55 PM
Soto deserved it although McCann and Martin are right up there...Lee deserves it more than Soriano but no arguments about starting Berkman...Fukudome is an example of Cubs fan poll skewing
7/6/2008 4:41:50 PM
Jap internet votingI liked Gonzalez over Berkman for 1B....though the numbers don't necessarily back it up[Edited on July 6, 2008 at 4:48 PM. Reason : b]
7/6/2008 4:45:56 PM
i think varitek as a reserve is the worst choice, he's not an all-star by any stretch of the imagination this season
7/6/2008 4:49:43 PM
I think Berkman started off a lot better than Adrian but Gonzalez has been more consistent...also Berkman has a bunch of stolen bases
7/6/2008 4:55:52 PM
Jose Reyes should have made it over both Guzman AND Tejada.Reyes: .297/.360/.485 for a .845 OPSGuzman: .313/.340/.429 for a .769 OPSTejada: .282/.319/.437 for a .756 OPSI get that the Gnats need a rep, but Tejada making it is just mindblowingly retarded. Not only is the guy an admitted steroid user and liar, but he isn't even CLOSE to as productive as Reyes is...Wright should have made it over Ramirez... and Hamels needs to be on the team too.
7/6/2008 6:53:41 PM
7/6/2008 7:15:02 PM
Wright over Ramirez? Who else from the Nats deserved to go?
7/6/2008 7:26:22 PM
there's some speed on the NL rostereverybody should run on Veritek when he's in. hell, steal 2 at a time while you're at it. his arm is about as good as the girls under-10 special olympics softball team's designated runner

7/6/2008 7:47:38 PM
The All-Star game sucks. Get rid of the representative from every team rule and get rid of home field advantage in the World Series.I don't really have problem with fan voting. It's supposed to be an exhibition game that doesn't count for anything. Who cares if it's skewed?
7/6/2008 7:48:49 PM
but since the home field rule is still in place, i'm sure you'll be pulling hard for the NL
7/6/2008 8:03:15 PM
I'll be pulling hard for catastrophic injuries to every Phil, Marlin, and Met on the team.
7/6/2008 8:07:57 PM
7/6/2008 8:11:07 PM
i like the representative from every team rule.seriously I don't want to see the Yanksox versus the NL. 6 out of the starting 9 are on the same two teams. That is outright bullshit even WITH the "one from every team" rule.
7/6/2008 8:26:02 PM
Just make another rule that you can't have more than two players from one team in the starting lineup They're only in for about two innings anyway.
7/6/2008 8:45:18 PM
so where are the Rays players at?
7/6/2008 8:45:45 PM
In Tampa, mostly.
7/6/2008 8:46:46 PM
Kazmir made it and Longoria is on the list of players to be voted on for the last spothttp://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080706&content_id=3076894&vkey=allstar2008&fext=.jsp
7/6/2008 9:05:02 PM
i dont really have anyone i would want taken off, but it is interesting that the good sox have the best ERA in the AL and the 2nd best for starters, but they have no pitchers on the teamat least Danks should be there
7/6/2008 11:36:09 PM
what a jokeim def not watching it this year and im a big baseball fan
7/6/2008 11:39:41 PM
who is in the derby this year?
7/7/2008 12:14:50 AM
so far its Lance Berkman, Chase Utley, Dan Uggla, and Josh Hamilton that have confirmed
7/7/2008 12:35:18 AM
^^^^Gavin Floyd could have been there too...The number of undeserving players that are starting that shouldn't even be there is terrible.
7/7/2008 10:34:53 AM
sucks that Danks can't get run supporthe'd be a 12-13 game winner
7/7/2008 11:05:04 AM
i put a few votes in for dye today, didnt even compare his stats with the other guysi can be a homer too
7/7/2008 10:15:12 PM
^he's pretty much got the best stats of any AL outfielder who didnt already make the team...for the 2 reserves I voted for Longoria and Hart myself
7/8/2008 10:25:51 AM
I wish I had tickets to the game Wonder if I can buy some scalped ones outside for a reasonable fee
7/8/2008 12:06:37 PM
7/11/2008 11:02:12 AM
So who is everyone's pick for the Derby???I think it will be a lefty at Yankee Stadium and I'll go with a youngster and go with Sizemore.
7/14/2008 1:28:00 AM
after 5 straight years of non-white players winning the derby, it's odd to see an all white-bread lineup...
7/14/2008 8:04:36 AM
ohhh, I hope my man-crush Grady Sizemore winsbut I'll be very happy if Hamilton or Longoria winsI actually really like this years lineup. I kinda wish Pujols was in it - especially after he said that he wanted to participate.
7/14/2008 8:39:12 AM
Actually 7.5 white playersSizemore is a Halfrican AmericanHere are the odds as of this morning 9 - 2 Chase Utley 5 - 1 Dan Uggla 8 - 1 Evan Longaria 5 - 1 Grady Sizemore 3 - 1 Josh Hamilton 9 - 2 Justin Morneau 4 - 1 Lance Berkman 8 - 1 Ryan Braun As for my pick...I'm going with a semi-longshotJustin Morneau
7/14/2008 10:15:07 AM
I'm pulling for Morneau and Hamilton but for some reason I think Braun is gonna win
7/14/2008 7:30:33 PM
at the Yankee Stadium lovefest...My lasting memory of that dump? The urine soaked outfield bleachers and the overflowing urinals where people just said fuck it and pissed all over the floor...Just a disgusting stadium in a fucked up run-down neighborhood...
7/14/2008 7:41:17 PM
Ima go with Berkman
7/14/2008 7:43:12 PM
im thinking Berkman alsohe does well in derbies from what i recall
7/14/2008 7:45:24 PM
^^^well it does have a whole lot of history
7/14/2008 7:48:13 PM
7/14/2008 7:52:48 PM
