I am supposed to be writing a letter of appreciation for a scholarship I recently received, but I am having a difficult time. Besides the obvious thanks, what else do you say in a letter like that?

I've used variations of this several times:

If you receive an endowed scholarship, go to the scholarship dinner put on by the Engineering Foundation in the spring.

I never bothered to write them, with the exception of a simple letter after I graduated.
