http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3470016Baron Davis to be a Clipper!!
7/1/2008 10:16:54 PM
I kind of wanted (though I knew it wouldn't happen) Davis back in Charlotte since I'm sure any former Hornets fan was a fan of Baron...only question was his injury risk (and this is his 10th year coming up although I think he's only about 29)...but he's from the west coast so I figure he'd stay out there
7/1/2008 10:27:18 PM
no idea why he'd take less money to be a clipper
7/1/2008 10:39:23 PM
I think he's from LA. Maybe he wanted to go home.
7/1/2008 10:43:59 PM
he owns a production company or something like that
7/1/2008 10:47:07 PM
If Kamen comes back strong they will be a force to be reckoned with.
7/1/2008 10:54:54 PM
not to mention Eric gordon as the PG there now
7/1/2008 11:03:13 PM
First, the obligatory Chris Kaman tidbit that must accompany any mention of his name
7/1/2008 11:03:42 PM
W's need to do something now.. they wasted the trade exception and have no true 1... Monta isn't going to run point, Arenas is going to re-sign with Washington...I guess Chauncey Billups is an option? But I really can't imagine them wanting to sign an aging point...
7/1/2008 11:07:00 PM
they still need someone better than Kaveman Kaman to contend.
7/1/2008 11:07:06 PM
^^ they'd have to do a sign and trade with DETwe'd take biedrins for billups in a second
7/1/2008 11:20:43 PM
Davis was born and went to HS in LA, went to UCLA, has a production company w/ Jessica Alba's husband in LA,etc. etc. I don't think he's too worried about cash at this point, he's down with G Unit too.I can imagine that his newfound endorsements will cover what he lost by leaving GS.
7/1/2008 11:24:50 PM
^^ pietrusnba free agency is the most confusing of all to me for some reason... same with the cap structure...[Edited on July 1, 2008 at 11:30 PM. Reason : biedrins isn't going anywhere... neither is monta]
7/1/2008 11:29:26 PM
I think a big thing with Davis is the security because of his injury historyYeah, he turned down 17 for this year to get 13/year for 5 yearsBut there's a decent chance he fucks up his knee again in the upcoming season and doesn't get the chance for a big paydayHe's 29 going on 35...lots of miles of his legs
7/1/2008 11:34:32 PM
they need to find a PG that wasnt drafter thats a sleeperthats all they can hope for really, there arent any free agents or NBDL guys that are worthy
7/1/2008 11:39:11 PM
I wouldn't be surprised if they looked at FeltonHe is suppose to be available and could thrive in that offensenot sure who the Bobcats could get in return for him...Charlotte needs bigs and the Warriors don't have any good ones to spare
7/1/2008 11:43:17 PM
ahh, good point, I doubt they get rid of Felton, like you say tho they dont have anything to throw back at them...but i dont think they are gonna let Felton slide that easy...they like him as a 1&2 for some reasonim sure they would LOVE to trade for Brandan Wright altho Biedrins would be bestIf i were Jordan Id offer up Morrison, May and Felton for Biedrins plus cash[Edited on July 1, 2008 at 11:53 PM. Reason : gg]
7/1/2008 11:48:03 PM
no team in the league wants May
7/2/2008 10:17:41 AM
He would have to be bundled.
7/2/2008 11:00:32 AM
7/2/2008 11:39:12 AM
i dunno...somehow we convinced them to give us Jason Richardson for Brandan Wright...
7/2/2008 11:51:53 AM
thats still better than 3 pieces of crap, dead salary coming in and giving up cash for an up and coming all star centernot to mention they didnt want to sign richardson to a long term contract
7/2/2008 11:57:24 AM
i think there is and will always be too much depth in the west for biedrins to be an all star...i think he's pretty soft too...helluva FG% though
7/2/2008 11:58:23 AM
Are you saying Wright is an up and coming Center?
7/2/2008 12:24:51 PM
nah im just talkin about the Duncans and Yaos and Bosh's making the all star team over Biedrins
7/2/2008 12:32:09 PM
When Zydrunas Ilgauskas is an all-star center, something is wrong at the center position in the NBA. So saying Biedrins is all-star caliber, that doesnt mean he's any good.
7/2/2008 12:33:20 PM
better than what Charlotte has to offer at center IMO
7/2/2008 12:34:42 PM
biedrins is only 21 people. and in the east he'd be an all-star every year along with dwight howard
7/2/2008 12:37:30 PM
why did I mention Bosh? Toronto is in the East ^he would not make it over Howard or Bosh]
7/2/2008 1:17:24 PM
^^he's 21 people!!! that's fucking unfair!
7/2/2008 1:20:38 PM
It's official, the Sonics will move to Oklahoma City this year. OH FUCKING BOY
7/2/2008 10:07:39 PM
^^^
7/2/2008 10:55:43 PM
biedrins is nice but you're making it sound like he's one of the top 5 bigs in the leagueand yeah i think we can agree that some players (ie Tim Duncan) are between a 4 and 5 and its tough to always have a "true 5" on a team]
7/2/2008 11:10:20 PM
Don't count out Jermaine O'neal having a resurgence in TorontoAlso Al Horford could be great in a few yearsThe East obviously has slimmer pickings than the West, but I wouldn't expect Biedrens to just waltz in and be an all star every year.[Edited on July 2, 2008 at 11:14 PM. Reason : x]
7/2/2008 11:14:49 PM
I'd do Felton for Wright in a heartbeat.Assuming Augustin can play. And if he can't play then we shouldn't have fucking picked him when there was Bayless/Lopez on the board.Fuck Jordan. Seriously, fuck that guy.
7/2/2008 11:55:59 PM
great on the court != great anywhere else in a basketball organizationword to isaiah
7/3/2008 12:19:41 AM
The great players seem to make average or worse GMsJordan, Isaiah, McHale, Bird, VandeweighThe good players seem to make good or better GM'sDumars, Mullin and AingeI thought Kerr would make a great GM, but he already has a 7 foot 380 pound strike against him
7/3/2008 2:03:18 AM
Oklahoma City Supersonics!
7/3/2008 3:10:03 AM
try again with the name
7/3/2008 8:02:43 AM
they're probably gonna be the cyclones, tornadoes, twisters etcmy fav would be the Oklahoma City Bombers
7/3/2008 10:09:25 AM
can we get the team's entrance to be in a ryder truck?
7/3/2008 10:43:53 AM
^^^ Did they already switch to a new mascot or are you unaware of the sudden move??
7/3/2008 1:24:39 PM
They will not keep the SuperSonics name, but there is not a new one yet.
7/3/2008 1:30:03 PM
Oklahama Sooner Sonics?Oklahoma City Scissor-tailed Flycatchers? (http://www.birdsofoklahoma.net/State%20bird.htm)
7/3/2008 2:05:02 PM
^ That name would rival "Banana Slugs" on the list of mascots that are goofy and cool sounding at the same time.
7/3/2008 2:08:13 PM
the Knicks apparently signed Chris Duhon, he's D'antoni's "engine", this should be interesting?
7/4/2008 5:40:50 PM
Not a terrible deal for the Knicks. 3 years, 9 million. Duhon doesn't create any offense with penetration and lacks ball handling skills in general. He's pretty much just a catch-and-shoot 3 point launcher that can also swing the ball around the perimeter. Good defender which is concept the Knicks are unfamiliar with.I'd worry about a hard partier like Duhon living in NYC though. He's going to have a lot of distractions. Maybe being a starter will make him take basketball seriously though.
7/5/2008 11:14:02 AM
Elton Brand signs with the Sixers.. they should be pretty solid next year
7/8/2008 9:40:35 PM
Baron's probably like WTF, I came here to play with you
7/8/2008 10:33:05 PM
baron hasnt actually signed tho has he?they cant till tomorrowhe could still possibly go elsewhere
7/8/2008 10:37:08 PM
