NCSU DOT's website says that grad students can get 'C' permits (http://www2.acs.ncsu.edu/trans/parking/permits/student/studentPermitFees.html), but when I called earlier this year, NCSU DOT said they can't. Any other grad students run into this/gotten a 'C' permit before? Also, does anyone know how to use the RA/TA payment plan for permits? Does it give you that option when you go to pay?

Grad students could get a C permit a while back (especially Vet), but now it's DD/DC only if you're on main campus. They deduct the monthly amount from your check (for me an RA it would have been 277/12 months, for TA's 277/9 months). If you sell it back for the summer you will get like 60 bucks.

I tried to get them to give me a C permit, but the supervisor on duty that day didn't approve the request. I got a DC instead. I work in Jordan Hall.

I work in Admin III and they denied mine too, I talked to the head of permit distribution or whatever his title was and he said my status as a student overrode my status as an employee or some stupid shit.

i got my C permit, paid for a month, and then went back and told them i didn't have it anymore because my windshield was replaced and the sticker was gone...also said i didn't want anotherit's been 10 months, and i still use it to park in C lots...that's $250 saved thus far fuck the NCSU DOT...i've gotten so many bullshit tickets from them that they owe me

^ Dude, don't post that on here, they'll figure out who you are, lol.I was also under the impression only university employees could get those C permits now.I got approved for a DC pass, which is good since it goes everywhere I want to be. It was $300 this year, and I thought it was less than that last year. I'll have to check and see. I'm not surprised that they increased the parking rates, as there are a good deal more people going to school here now than when I first started going here.

Unless you can get them to grant an exception, you have to be a permanent employee to qualify for a C permit. That basically limits C permits to faculty and administrative staff.

^wrong. students in cvm and toxicology are eligible for 'c' permits.

^would be correct.NCSUDOT was keeping parking ticket fines as revenue for years. Apparently there's a law in NC that University's aren't supposed to keep their ticket revenue. NCSUDOT used ticket funds as their main source of income, however now they have been forced to increase other fees and cut services, since they lost that source of income. They are supposed to give something like 90% to grade schools, and keep 10%. This law wasn't really enforced until some grade school lawyer found it and took the universities to court. The result is that NCSU and other universities must pay everything they owe to the k-12 schools. NCSU has chosen to pass this cost onto the students, thus increasing fine amounts and parking pass fees.Thank you NCSU.
