Again with 1998-1999? Hasn't that issue been flogged to death? http://message_topic.aspx?topic=406303http://message_topic.aspx?topic=530305What form of entertainment? How do you define golden era? Popularity of the medium? If you're referring to the theater experience, I'd say the golden era was before people had TVs, so they pretty much had to go to a movie to get entertainment. Nowadays I just wait for the DVD because it's much cheaper. As far as the actual year? It's probably different for everyone. It's the last year you still had that childlike view of entertainment. The year before you get jaded on it. The year that is far enough in the past for nostalgia to set in. For me it's probably in the 80s. For you it's probably in the 90s.

certainly not at any point after 2000. im sick of having stupid films like transformers, indiana jones, the hulk, etc being shoved down my throat. I can't go anywhere without hearing or seeing some advertisement about the movie and how some douche bag gives it "two thumbs up". sometimes i think they spend more money on the marketing than they do the filming. television sucks too. i dont know of a single sitcom or reality show worth watching nor any of those stupid singing, dancing, or talent competitions.toke*

I'm actually going to go with Stewby on this one.If your IQ is above 85 you were probably born 50 years too late from an entertainment consumer perspective

I dont consider the office to be a sitcom but i love it. its always sunny in philadelphia is really funny too. I was just kinda talking about all of that shit like american idol, and dancing with the stars, grey's anatomy, etc. I just hate seeing all the product placement stuff that goes on in movies and shows. Obviously there's still good entertainment out there, maybe it just takes a little more searching around and recognizing when someone is trying to make something genuine, or just sell you some more bullshit.

It's all a matter of delivery. Today we've got more product placement than in the past, yes, but we also don't have the stars of our showing stepping out of the shot to tell us about the smooth flavor of Lucky Strikes. The interesting thing is that all the shows I named, which is to say most of the decent sitcoms of the past few years, are all cinematic/one-camera shows, and the show that made it possible for stuff like AD and The Office to get made was Malcolm in the Middle. Fox freaked the fuck out when there were quick cuts, live action non-sequiters, and no laugh track, but it worked and all the other networks jumped on board. ]

Isn't Frankie Munez (sp?) from Wake Forest? Malcom in the Middle was a great show too. Personally, my favorite right now is Metalocalypse. Now that is some entertainment.
