Does it suck as bad as it seems on tv? Any horror stories from your relatives? The majority of people who purchase the unit are mostly college educated females, so take that as you will.I realize 'weed eater' is a separate brand.

There are name brands of the same type of trimmer/edger for the same price, battery powered too. Buying a name brand will help if something goes wrong, as they are sold everywhere.

i'm gonna go with: if it's in a tv infomercial = shit. if you want such a product, go with a name brand from a b&m store.[Edited on June 24, 2008 at 4:13 PM. Reason : ]

I prefer roundup. even though it has gone up it's still better than a weed eater. I mix up about 15 gallons at a time and 3 or 4 tanks will spray everything there is to spray on our place.

If you wanna do some weed eating, then Echo is the way to go for the lower dollar good stuff. You really have to spend at least $200. If you buy a cheaper model it will vibrate til your hands are numb, will be heavy, and probably won't be reliable. My 21cc Echo SRM-210 will weed eat circles around any bigger Crapsman or equivalently priced Husqy or Stihl. The $200 Husqvarnas and Stihls are good trimmers, but are heavier and louder than the Echo. You actually have to spend about $50 more to get a Stihl or Husqy that equals the $200 Echo.If you're willing to spend more than $200, Echo's bigger models and Stihls are good, as is Red Max and Shindaiwa. If you're looking at a big $1k+ brush saw then go with the Husqvarna.I'd suggest getting a straight shaft. It lets you reach under stuff easier, is easier to edge with, and isn't so damn close to your legs.Anything battery powered is crap unless the only stuff that grows in your yard is wheat cat grass. It just won't have the muscle and speed.Plug-ins will have power, but they just aren't as fun.One more thing, don't buy it at a big box store.I've bought my fair share of stuff at big box stores and I will continue to do that for most stuff.BUT, the big box stores aren't gonna service your stuff for you. They have to ship it out and have it sit on someone's shelf for months. The POE sales and service shops usually have the same price for the models carried in big box stores.[Edited on June 25, 2008 at 12:44 AM.
