I'm a fan. I've already got a blazer but I'm thinking about replacing it with a suit that I could also wear as separates. They're pretty inexpensive (Brooks Brothers on sale for $300, Haspel suits about the same) and work well in the summer.Gentlemen: those of you who wear seersucker, what have you found that works?Ladies: what looks good to you when you see a guy in seersucker?Everyone: should I go with blue / white or tan / white.Links (if you've got them) would be appreciated!!!Thanks!]

i love mine - confortable as hell. opted for tan (also from Brooks)
6/20/2008 6:14:37 PM
i thought about doing it cuz i live somewhere that isnt the south. definitely gotta go blue white though mayne. can mix that with all kinds of good pastels.
6/20/2008 6:17:48 PM
Ive got som tan/white pants that I wear occasionally in the summer...however I think the blue/white suit from BB for $300 sounds like the way to go
6/20/2008 6:17:50 PM
You might want to look at Jos A Banks too, I think they've got a sale going on and their about the same as Brooks Brothers.
6/20/2008 6:22:44 PM
so what are these, like lightweight cotton suits?
6/20/2008 6:25:00 PM
^^ Not a fan of Jos. A. Bank jackets in general. They are WAY to heavy in the shoulders with padding. According to the WSJ, the overall winner in the Seersucker Suit contest was Haspel, with BB a close secondBlue / White:Tan / White:
6/20/2008 6:30:33 PM
oooh my gosh i loveeee this material. the guys who wear seersucker are the hottest.
6/20/2008 6:53:27 PM
hahah i wore searsucker today but it was weird... it was dark brown with beige stripeslooks good and doesn't make you sweat like hell
6/20/2008 6:57:59 PM
Yeah I hadn't tried Jos A Banks jackets but I can see what you mean, their other stuff also tends to be cut a little on the big side. I'd say tan for a suit, blue is good for shorts but I don't really care for the suits that color. Brooks Brothers is nice though, great customer service, all you have to do is talk to the older women who work there and they'll help you out.
6/20/2008 7:13:27 PM
^^^ I need more help than that What do you like to see guys pair with seersucker?^ I'm wondering how well tan could be paired as a separate. It'd be impossible to match a tan blazer with anything other than jeans, and I wonder how well that'd work.]
6/20/2008 7:17:43 PM
i like the blue/white. shorts. with a nice white polo. and then white kswiss or lacoste shoes. [Edited on June 20, 2008 at 7:21 PM. Reason : w]

6/20/2008 7:25:36 PM
i think i'm to dark skinned to pull off all that white...
6/20/2008 7:26:14 PM
^^ thanks! I'll skip the gel but take you out to eat next time I'm in NC.
6/20/2008 7:27:36 PM
I always liked Brooks Brothers more than Lacoste.. I think the quality is better for shorts and polos. Besides the golden fleece is a little less obnoxious that damn alligator.
6/20/2008 7:28:26 PM
Well thats still not a bad outfit.I'm still up for advice on how to pull of the suit look, especially shirt / tie combinations. I found some Ben Silver ties I liked, but I'm not sure I want to sink $126 into a pastel linen tie.]
6/20/2008 7:31:29 PM
i've never been in brooks brothers. i always thought it was wayyy too expensive and i didnt think i fit the scene.i really want a polo dress from lacoste though. I always thought their clothes didn't fit me (the actual polos are not slim fit AT ALL) but the dress looks good...i tried one on in Canada but didnt want the fees on my credit card for international purchases to be outrageous. it's my birthday on tuesday TWW -- buy me one, please?
6/20/2008 7:33:59 PM
lacoste is far more expensive than BB

go with the blue, the tan would wash you out pair with white, pink, or green dress shirt and pastel tie - brooks bros outlet will hook you up, just ask the employees what goes. or this tie with a white or pale blue shirt:
6/21/2008 10:12:51 AM
I bought a J Crew suit for a very reasonable price. I generally wear a white shirt with a navy blue tie. Looks good.My wife has a seersucker jacket from Brooks Brothers and it's probably the highest quality seersucker I've ever seen.[Edited on June 21, 2008 at 10:16 AM. Reason : .]
6/21/2008 10:15:38 AM
why would you wear a polo with a jacket
6/21/2008 10:24:02 AM
^^^ I'll pass on the tie But I like the rest.Ok for shoes, I'm not a fan of white bucks, so I was thinking either sand colored bucks or saddle shoes. Which also means I need to find some kind of belt to go with it all, any suggestions on that?
6/21/2008 10:27:19 AM
may i ask what is so popular about these things?
6/21/2008 10:42:28 AM
don't forget your straw hat...alvin dennis has a website now.http://alvindennis.com/index.html
6/21/2008 11:00:01 AM
Wow, moving up. I had to get a tux from there once. Quite possibly the center of the frattastic universe.^^ First off, they're much more comfortable than a wool suit in the summer. Second, they're not as boring as a wool suit.]
6/21/2008 11:38:47 AM
6/21/2008 12:24:31 PM
seersucker or linen is the way to go in the summer
6/21/2008 12:26:09 PM
^^ I dunno, a solid colored dress shirt with no tie could work.
6/21/2008 12:35:23 PM
for tailgating i've got brooks brothers red/white seersucker that I wear with a white or red poloBut for any other time i like my blue and white brooks brothers seer sucker pants with a button down white shirt, white polo, pastel yellow polo, it matches so many colors that it's hard to go wrong.
6/21/2008 1:12:09 PM
For example, John Warner is making it work:
6/21/2008 1:13:44 PM
wow look at pink shirt standing in front of the clock, looks like a fucking clown suit
6/21/2008 1:14:40 PM
that would be John Warner I'm digging the look though. Of course when you're the senior senator from Virginia and probably one of the most respected senators period, you can get away with a lot.
6/21/2008 1:19:30 PM
i thought john warner was the shithead--or is that the other guy
6/21/2008 1:30:22 PM
I am a big fan of the tan seer sucker.
6/21/2008 1:30:25 PM
it doesn't work north of Richmond
6/21/2008 1:35:10 PM
most things don't...*zing*
6/21/2008 1:35:50 PM
Blue and white

i think seersucker is but my dad and brother love it. my brother wears a seersucker suit w/ a bow tie and white shoes and gets hit on by all the gay men at his friends' weddings (my brother is not gay, but you wouldn't know it by the gay ass fratty shit he wears).thumbs down
6/21/2008 6:32:54 PM
gay men generally have good taste. I'll stick with them thank you very much.
6/21/2008 6:33:57 PM
go with the blue and whiteAlso, for a tie, go with pastel yellow and blue tie, with the yellow being the more main color in the tie. I rock mine with a beautiful bowtie.
6/21/2008 6:55:33 PM
6/21/2008 8:36:16 PM
niiice. going to suggest we have "seersucker Thursday" at the office.
6/21/2008 8:38:44 PM
Moving on to shoes:The former seem more versatile, but the latter have a certain snap to them. So . . . suggestions? ]
6/22/2008 12:21:55 PM
I would probably go with the Sperry's. It's a pretty good brand and they fit well.
6/22/2008 12:31:42 PM
What a coincidence. I bought those sperry bucks yesterday for my seersucker pants. You can get them at SRI shoe warehouse for $65.00. Beats the $95 everywhere else.
