Going for just two days, one night over July 4th.For two days, what are the must dos....I'm thinking beach, broadway, outlet shoppingother shopping, dining, entertainment, touristy places to hit? Also what beach part (North? Middle? South?) is the most happening since it's a long strip of beachFinally, anyone own a condo there I can rent or whatever

why the hell are you going to myrtle beach anyway, place is heinousI got a hookup on a condo, but it's a little late to be getting a condo on july 4th[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 9:02 AM. Reason : .]

sometimes people just feel like going to myrtle.i think we may make a long weekend trip down there at the end of july. I was looking at cheap places to stay, 140 a night is about as low as it gets though.

If your a tourist, I'd stay down in the heart of Myrtle with all the other tourists. The further North or South you get the less of a crowd you get into though.

north myrtle is more clean and i enjoy it better. we went a couple weeks ago and hit up barefoot landing, broadway, tanger outlets...spent some time on the beach up north near Cherry Grove. As soon as you pass over the waterway bridge, the first exit is cherry grove. it is a nice beach and less crowded... keep going down 17 south to hit north myrtle...we also went to medieval times (it was a surprise birthday trip for me).there's tons to do down there, pick up brochures and go to a show or something

The only worthwhile thing at myrtle is golf.

go to south myrtle, like down into garden city or even murrell's inlet. it's about the only place that won't completely surround you in (a) white trash, although theres still plenty (b) tourist traps, wings/eagles/giant, and outlet malls, or (c) jailbait on the 'strip' outside the old pavillionedit: just re-read, sounds like you want to be dead in the middle of MB. go to the strip, there are plenty of hotels.[Edited on June 19, 2008 at 10:33 AM. When my wife and I go, we like to stay at the Marriott Grand Dunes Resort. It is isolated from the "strip" so it is less crowded. Last time we went, the only time we left the hotel was to go out to dinner.I particularly like sitting by the pool while the servers bring me cold beers.Info on the hotel: http://www.myrtlebeachmarriottresort.com/There is not much else to do in Myrtle Beach if you don't want to doing it with about 5000 people. I try to avoid the touristy shit.Things you might like:- Hard Rock Amusement Park- Ripley's Believe-It-Or-Not Museum (Ocean Blvd.)- Broadway at the Beach- Nightlife on the strip (Mother Fletcher's, the Brewery)- Putt Putt Golf- Medieval Times or Dixie Stampede- Outlet Mall Shopping- etc.Myrtle Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau: http://www.myrtlebeachinfo.com/

thanks, i'm looking at the alternative which would be going to Atlanta for a 2 night stay: coca cola, zoo, aquarium, buckhead, underground, etcwhat do yall think...one nite stay at myrtle or 2 nite in atlanta
6/19/2008 10:57:16 AM
I live in Little River SC. It aint that hard to find a place to stay for 2 nights down there. I don't like goin to the tourist places but you probrably would.
6/19/2008 11:10:18 AM
ok really leaning towards going to atlanta instead for 2 nites..like 80/20
6/19/2008 5:31:43 PM
my mom is there! her bday is tomorrow
6/19/2008 5:32:15 PM
if you go to atlanta, there is absolutely no reason for you to visit the underground
6/19/2008 5:39:12 PM
I'd pick atlanta over MB and most any beach in NC over Atl...and yeah I'd avoid the underground unless you're doing it just to say you did it
6/19/2008 6:03:39 PM
where's Poetrickster.
6/19/2008 6:05:07 PM
yeah i just want to stay i made it to the underground hahawhat's bad about that? just boring or is it dangerous
6/20/2008 8:19:07 AM
ya might get shot
6/20/2008 8:53:49 AM
The aquarium and IMAX theater down there are pretty fun
6/20/2008 8:58:52 AM
So if I was going to be in Myrtle:Where would I want to play golf?Pick two courses.
6/20/2008 10:17:22 AM
If you can play Thistle try to. Its a fabulous course in immaculate condition. The clubhouse should be finished by now, which when i was there last looked awesome. The staff is great, its not an overly tough course so you should be able to enjoy the course and its beauty.I've played a fair many down there, Glen Dornach is another thats nice that you shouldnt have any issues getting a teetime for

When me and my fam goes for July 4th or whenever, we stay at the Harbour Lights Resort condo things (which is in South Myrtle and are SUPER NICE..not to mention have a NICE pool and a huge lazy river and other ammenities). My fam has the point system thing for them and get so much off and like $100 credit for every presentation they go to and every time they stay there. Plus, I haven't been since 2006, but I heard they built an amusement park right beside it. Could be worth checking out. We normally hit up the outlets (including Tanger), Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot's Landing (loveeee Dick's!), the Coastal Grand mall (thing is HUGE), etc. But I do agree, it's too commercialized![Edited on June 20, 2008 at 3:31 PM. lol it seems that's what you're into though
6/20/2008 7:08:21 PM
^ wow! Really? Interesting. I'd have to disagree.
6/20/2008 7:44:59 PM
you just said you stay at a resort and like to go to stores when you go to the beach...the very definition of commercializationi'm not making a judgment call on your life and value as a human being or anything[Edited on June 20, 2008 at 7:58 PM. Reason : ]
