I'm kinda looking at buying a PSP because i have a PS3 and it can do some nifty things with it like stream media from my PS3 (and from my PC through my PS3) anywhere in the world, remote control the ps3, remote play some games, etc. I'll also be moving to australia w/ a 36 hour trip so it might come in handy. My gf, however, wants a Nintendo DS because she wants to play all the puzzle and mind games on it. What else can you do w/ this thing? any good games for it?Opinions?

can you get laid from your PSP?cause if you don't get the DS, it'll need to have that functionality
6/16/2008 9:25:20 PM
DS has the games, PSP has...whatever.get the DS
6/16/2008 9:27:35 PM
from what i gather.PS3: multimedia, cooler gadgetDS: gamesamiright?
6/16/2008 9:32:48 PM
yes.
6/16/2008 9:33:56 PM
I have a DS and enjoy it immensely
6/16/2008 9:40:03 PM
apparently you can hack the PSP and emulate SNES and gameboy games. thats kinda cool. can DS do anything besides play games? you can't watch movies on it right? limited mp3?
6/16/2008 9:42:10 PM
You can watch movies on it with 3rd party hardware.Obviously the screen doesn't hold a candle to the PSP.[Edited on June 16, 2008 at 9:45 PM. Reason : and by "hardware" i mean it's basically a DS cartridge with a microSD slot]

I like the PSP simply because of the hacks...lets you play SNES/GBA/etc. roms in high quality. The actual games for it, though aren't that impressive (though they have great graphics)...except maybe the FFVII game, but I haven't played it yet. At the end of the day though, I use my DS, because that thing has some sweet games for it.

contra would be quite awesome for the DS. hrmm i guess i just see myself using a device more for multimedia than for games. i can't think of any reason i'd ever play portable games unless i was traveling. then again, i wouldnt really be using portable multimedia unless i was traveling. maybe i'm bored and just want to spend money. gah
6/16/2008 10:09:39 PM
get an ipod if you want multimedia
6/16/2008 10:13:38 PM
^^FFVII: Crisis Core sucks. Don't waste your time.^There's Contra 4 for the DS. The game itself is reportedly hard as hell, but you can unlock the original Contra and Super C on it.
6/16/2008 10:15:52 PM
^^yeh... an itouch would be cool, but my gf has an iphone already and i have a ipod video or whatever that works well enough for music. def lacking in the video dept. i guess we could watch movies on her iphone

6/17/2008 12:24:53 AM
there are quite a few excellent puzzle and mind games for the PSP[Edited on June 17, 2008 at 5:23 AM. Reason : .]
6/17/2008 5:22:55 AM
DS is the shit.
6/17/2008 5:50:04 AM
Got a PSP. haha i don't waste any time. Its quite cool and remote play works nicely. I d/led the God of War demo and its pretty damn badass. I also ripped a DVD to it and it looks fantastic! What sucks? IT DOESNT PLAY FREAKING DIVX!!! Even the PS3 does! wtf?
6/17/2008 11:20:53 AM
my only gripe with the PSP is its screen. It's bright and big and gorgeous, but the refresh rate.... oh gawd.Pretty much makes watching video on it impossible for me. Yes, it's that bad.
6/17/2008 3:25:39 PM
PSP: hax0red.

Alright so I am going to buy a PSP. I've played both and I like the PSP more.I can't decide which version to get. I would get the God of War pack but the fact that it has a print of Kratos's face on the back is kinda "meh" to me (red PSP).I am thinking about the Daxter pack (silver PSP).Any thoughts?[Edited on July 18, 2008 at 4:02 PM. Reason : is Daxter a good game? I am going to get the God of War game regardless...]
7/18/2008 4:01:56 PM
i thought the same thing, and although GOW is pretty bad ass, i opted to get a normal black PSP.then i hax0red it and may or may not have d/led GOW for free.pspmod.com
7/18/2008 6:33:15 PM
i've got the silver pretty sweet lookingi barely play it since i got a ps3 but it really saved my life on my flight to and from europe
7/18/2008 9:34:43 PM
what do you guys use to convert vid files? I downloaded PSP Video 9 buts its conversion rate is slooooow.[Edited on July 20, 2008 at 6:57 PM. Reason : I got the silver Daxter version and bought GOW, lol]
7/20/2008 6:57:04 PM
Yeah PSP Video 9 takes forever to convert, I havent come accross another converter yet

7/20/2008 7:14:07 PM
just finished GOW Chains of Olympus. It was awesome, as expected[Edited on July 21, 2008 at 1:24 PM. Reason : anyone got any other suggestions for games?]
7/21/2008 1:24:18 PM
I've got both. I got the psp for myself, and the ds for the wife, but I play both at night before bed. They each have their good points.
7/21/2008 1:33:55 PM
I wasnt that impressed with the DS, what do you like about it?My only complaint about the PSP is the fact that it has terrible glare issues in bright light situations. Everything else is just sweet.[Edited on July 21, 2008 at 1:51 PM. Reason : .]
7/21/2008 1:39:16 PM
You should get the PSP for you and a DS for her. There are a lot of fun games for both systems and the PSP will be a good complement to your PS3.
7/21/2008 8:52:21 PM
The screen on the PSP is much better, and the graphics kill the DS. Depending on the kind of games you liek to play should make a pretty big impact on your decision too. The DS has some awesome games like Zelda, New Super Mario, Mario Kart, CONTRA 4. The PSP has God of War, Metal Gear Solid, Twisted Metal, etc.I have both and if I had to choose one it would be PSP just because I like the screen better and it can do so much more, as well as the homebrew for emulating NES, SNES is better than on the DS. But I have really enjoyed a bunch of the games on the DS so its a tough choice.
7/22/2008 10:52:14 AM
what are some must have games for the PSP?
7/23/2008 11:36:53 AM
Loco Roco, Metal Gear Solid/Acid, Final Fantasy Tactics, Crisis Core, Jeanne D'Arc, Lumines, Every Extend Extra
7/23/2008 11:42:10 AM

DS + M3/R4/Cyclo + TetrisDS + wifi = awesomeif you like crosswords/sudoku DS is goodI also played professor layton nearly straight through in 12 hours one rainy saturdayBasically in my opinion if you think you might like a DS get one you'll like it, for me, fun games/original gameplay >>>> better graphics/more powerful machine, sounds like a Nintendo Fan boy, oh well[Edited on August 6, 2008 at 9:18 PM. civilization revolutions is pretty fun on the DS. basically the same game as the 360. I play it on my 20 minute train ride.. the DS seems perfect for that. I also do not attempt to pick up girls on said trains, so it works out.
8/6/2008 9:23:21 PM
I am very happy with my PSP
8/7/2008 4:28:38 PM
Has anyone played the new Super Mario Brothers on the Nintendo DS? I have thought about buying the DS just for it, but I haven't gotten to play it.
