I used to when I was in school. Now there are no streetlights where I live. You would be surprised about the sketch people. Heck, most of them would give you daps if you acknowledged them.

One night I ruck marched from LJM to Crossroads and back - scared the crap out of some people when I came jogging off the trail with a ruck sack, combat boots, and a ka-bar heh heh heh

I like night running. I run around my boyfriend's neighborhood all the time without fear.

A good solution for women is to bring a dog, preferably a big scary breed like German Shepard. nobody messes with you if you have a German Shepard.

^^ Not always true. There was a serial rapist at Lake Lynn awhile back and the last woman he attempted to rape had a German Shepard. Too bad for him the German Shepard then proceeded to rip his legs into shreds while she ran and called 911. That asshole was in the hospital for awhile.

When I lived in raliegh, I ran at night during the hotter times of the year all over campus, N. of campus, cameron park, downtown and 5 points. I never felt threatened, and never had a problem. Granted I'm a guy.


Running in thunderstorms and rain during the heat is also awesome.

I run at Durham at night a few times a week. I have a Beagle whose only guarding skill is looking cute. I've never been hassled except for "Ay, mamacita!" from the Latino dudes up the street.

Ironically, I never felt safe running at night in Raleigh, because of the lack of sidewalks.

Anytime I might feel threatened,I just simply run faster.

I've recently started running with my dog after I got off work around 8. It's not completely dark yet but it's cooled off by then. Plus I just feel safer going out at night with my dog.

I like to run @ night. Never had a problem with someone bothering me even though I run through sketchy neighborhoods.

The only problem I've had is it screws with my sleep cycle. I've read morning exercise will help with getting better sleep @ night but exercising at night won't.
