Good-ass deal at Target... they have 470ml bottles of shampoo and conditioner on sale for $3.79, and they're each shrinkwrapped with two 50ml travel-size bottles of the same type. Pretty good deal in its own right there, but if you buy three of them, you also get a free $5 Target gift card. I had the cashier scan the rest of my stuff as a second purchase, and used the gift card on it. So basically, it's like getting 3 570ml bottles of shampoo or conditioner for a buck or two less than a 750ml bottle usually costs somewhere else.

Man, I just bought shampoo (and I have short hair so it lasts a while) or I'd jump all over this.

isnt Pantene bad for your hair? I used to use it years ago and my stylist would always ask me - what kind of shampoo are you using now - and they would almost cuss me out because it has some sort of stripping chemical in it, I still use it on occasion, but I switch up every week or so
6/10/2008 8:21:31 PM
unless you are buying some organic or natural shampoo, all shampoos/soaps/etc have the same basic and main ingredients, save for the perfume, colors, flavours, etc.
6/10/2008 8:25:47 PM
I have used Pantene for the past few weeks as opposed to my normal overpriced organic shampoo. I honestly have found that my hair looks a lot better using 3.79 pantene then it EVER did using $28 dollar shampoo. I do not think my hair stylist will have a problem with my switch because it really does look healthier.
6/10/2008 9:06:07 PM
^what kind were you using before?
6/10/2008 9:30:59 PM
<--amused @ shadowrunner using Pantene
6/10/2008 9:38:10 PM
regardless of the shampoo you use, your hair will still be about as healthy as a rope

^^ You know I gots t' take care of my hair, girl!
6/10/2008 10:06:05 PM
^^It depends on your hair type and exposure to sun/chemicals/etc.
6/10/2008 10:37:35 PM
rofl "organic shampoo"...thats some homosexual shit right there
6/10/2008 10:38:38 PM
Mike Rowe did an episode of Dirty Jobs with http://www.terressentials.com/. They make shampoo out of clay and call it "Pure Earth Hair Wash." Seems odd... I'd try it.
6/10/2008 10:53:18 PM
somewhere out there, someone is paying 30 dollars for 8 ounces of clay slurry

The girl that cuts my hair said that all the store brands leave a lot of residue in your hair. I dunno though. I just have a bunch of shampoos and conditioners in the shower and I switch around. I have found that using a single shampoo over and over degrades my hair, so I wonder if different shampoos can remove the residue left behind from the previous ones and different conditioners provide different things that are all good for my hair. I don't know...I'm not a hair scientist or anything.
6/11/2008 1:26:51 AM
^ right. you're not supposed to use the same shampoo for very long because of build up. kind of the same idea as with any kind of drug tolerance- stops working as effectively after a certain time.

^^^^LOL, I can imagine MetalRed using gallons of organic shampoo on that flowing mane of his, and then bragging to all his friends about how great his hair looks and smells.

The vast majority of the soaps and shampoos that claim to be organic are not organic products at all. Usage of the term "organic" in foods is regulated by the US Department of Agriculture, but there is no regulation in the personal care industry.Basically, it's probably just a marketing gimmick."Organic" cleansers are not always that expensive either.[Edited on June 11, 2008 at 11:19 AM. pantene has a weird smell, i don't like it
6/11/2008 11:22:58 AM
damn i love the smell of panteen
6/11/2008 11:29:21 AM
the pantene for curly hair is the only shampoo I've found that doesn't completely dry out my hair.

Pantene (and most other shampoos and conditioners) contain silicone. It wrecks my hair, but it makes other people's hair look gorgeous and glossy. If I go shopping for hair stuff (I only use conditioner) I have to find something without "-cone" in it. I've been using Avalon Organics for several years and have been 'poo free since October 2005, but some people need to wash every day or raccoons start scrounging for scraps in their scalps.

I used to have pantene but my hair started falling out a lot more....my hair stylist told me that it's the worst shampoo on your hair
6/11/2008 10:14:06 PM
^^^ I have some Avalon Tea Tree Shampoo in the shower right now. It's good stuff.I have to shampoo daily. My hair will get so greasy I look like Elvis on day 1. I was able to ween myself away from it in college, but now my scalp is accustomed to it. I can't just go to work with a greasy ass head for a month while I wait for it to convert back.[Edited on June 11, 2008 at 11:17 PM. Reason : l]

I'm telling you, Flex is less than $2 at Kerr Drug. So, (1) it's cheap, (2) it smells great, and (3) it shampoos hair just fine. What more do you want?

if you're buying anything where the main ingredient is sodium lauryl sulfate or whatever, it's basically the same as every soap ever for any part of your body...bodywash, shampoo etc...it's all the same, and all of it is going to leave residue. its a basic chemical detergent. its essentially the same soap as dish soap or car washing soap, just mixed to different consistencies[Edited on June 12, 2008 at 9:34 AM. Best shampoo ever.I get compliments all the time. Great for color-treated hair.
6/12/2008 11:15:59 AM
^^...i forgot to mention, sodium lauryl sulfate is in like, 98% of all shampoo type products....so you're basically just washing your hair with diluted dish soap that smells different, no matter what your hairdresser tells you, or what commission they make off the expensive shampoos they dont tell you about
