I'm not sure if i'm actually an insomniac or not, but it takes me a good 45 minutes MINIMUM to go to sleep with no distractions (except for some choice music). I just can't slow my mind down usually and get to sleep. I don't think its worth getting tested (are there tests? or do you just bitch to a doctor till they diagnose you) since its not a serious interference.

its a routine you have to break out of. dont smoke before you go to bed. dont eat before you go to bed ( at least 2 hours of no eating before bed )work out during the day to sap some of the energy you haveif this doesnt work...than its probably psychological.

yeah i don't smoke, i try not to eat. i think about working out then i climb my lazy ass into bed.if i wake up and its remotely bright outside then like, my body just gets in daytime mode and its almost impossible for me to go back to sleep usually.

For a while I had it bad. Mostly I had just screwed up my sleep schedule so that I never even tried to go to bed before 2 am. But even when I did, I'd just lay there for hours. Once I went to bed at 1, laid there until 6, then went to Bojangles and decided to go to work early. I crashed hard about lunchtime.Then about a month ago out of the blue I started sleeping again. Tonight is different though. I have a lot of shit running through my mind tonight. It sucks

I haven't slept well this week. During my last co-op rotation I developed a need for alcohol to calm my mind most nights. Now I have enough anxious thoughts in my head to kill a cat. Without bourbon how can I sleep? I know I would be more productive if I slept first and then did work, however that's not going to happen. Trying to log the thoughts specifically causing problems with my sleep so I can do something about them.

I used to get bad insomnia when I was in school during finals. I mean 2-4 hrs sleep and then studying and working. Then the same thing the next night. I remember even taking an Ambien cuz the dorm next to me was having a damn party during finals!! But even after taking it, I stayed up another 3 hrs.

Yeah I'm still up.It's in part due to a bad series of habits from after finals, and in part due to some mental problems (serious ones that I probably need to see a counselor for since they haven't gone away in a damn year).I'm so off schedule at this point that I am hitting the reset button again. Staying up all night, then fighting through the day until about 3pm (which is when I'm going to good ol Richmond, VA with my parents and can get a short nap in the car to hold me over til the next night).I had my sleep schedule fixed about 2 weeks ago, then the worthless fucking neighbors of mine had parties in the parking lot about 2 maybe 3 days in a row. I mean, one night it was the people coming and leaving every hour or so and making a shit ton of noise (their townhouse is above the bedrooms in my garden style townhome/condo so I hear everything they do in their kitchen or when they leave). Next night I had firecrackers going off in my parking lot outside my damn window. Next night there was relationship drama and random girls screaming in the apartment complex somewhere.Doesn't help when you combine that with the other stuff. It is some bullshit but I'm looking to get a job so I can have something to tire myself out at before coming home. In addition to that I'm gonna pick up wing chun once I get my first paycheck and REALLY get worn out on a regular basis.It sucks, and I'd go see a counselor, but I can't afford the copayments with my insurance right now and I don't want to hassle my parents for money (they pay a lot of my expenses, until I can deal with this myself I'm not gonna deal with it). I'd go to student health but the counselor they assigned to me didn't really click with me at all, and I think I need a professional for grown-ups at this point.OH BUT THAT'S JUST TMI TIME ON THE WOLF WEB!Also, I tried tylenol PM, alcohol, exercise, the trick with warm milk, none of it works really. Just sit in bed awake for 4 hours or more til between 4-6am, then I pass out til 2pm.So, I SYMPATHIZE, but a lot of the people posting in this thread probably went to bed, so fuck it. :E
