I like to go down to the pool and read/do schoolwork while I'm outside instead of always sitting inside while it's gorgeous outside. How many days do you guys think is too many and really bad for you?I usually have time to go down there for like 2 or 3 days a week for 2 hours each day... is that too much? I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I couldn't find any consistent answer online...[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 4:17 PM. Reason : i guess a better ? is how many hours a week of direct and constant sunlight is bad?]

What the fuck do you think will make it bad for you? Do you suspect the chlorine will go aerosol on your ass and start turning your skin green?I'm pretty sure 2-3 days of sunshine will do you good Susan.

Yeah, I'm worried about the poolwater, genius. Right on... Anyone else with a brain that understands what I'm asking care to chime in?V ah... I can't use most sunscreens.. I break out.. that is another key piece of info I left out.[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 4:20 PM. Reason : x]

i break out/have allergic reactions to a lot of sunscreens....have you tried any of the neutrogena products?
5/20/2008 4:22:19 PM
In a public pool?One.

OMG a few hours of sunlight!?
5/20/2008 4:24:17 PM
In a gene pool?None.

i'm allergic to a lot of sunscreens too. you can find one w/o as many chemicals. i found one brand that works for me but i can't think of it right now and i really don't feel like digging through my crap. i think neutrogena might have also worked. but yea, i can't use all that coppertone hawaiian tropic type stuff either. but i would try a hypoallergenic kind...maybe neutrogena or aveeno. and if you do go in the water don't forget that chlorine REALLY dries out your skin so that + too much sun exposure can make for some very ouchy skin.

Yeah, I'm more worried about overexposure to the direct sunlight. There are no clouds to block any the sun from time to time literally the entire summer out here (unlike in NC), so without sunscreen I worry about the effects even 6-10 hours a week at a pool can have on me...Not worried about the chlorine in water. I only do like 20-25 laps and then I'm out...[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 4:30 PM. Reason : x]

you do realize that the sun is in other places besides the pool, right?
5/20/2008 4:35:22 PM
You know, you can go to the doctor, and they can give you sunscreen that you arent allergic to.

well i don't think any exposure to the sun is good for you if you aren't wearing sunscreen especially direct exposure w/ no shade so i'd try to find SOMETHING that works. neutrogena or aveeno. i'd try those if you haven't already. if not maybe you should go to the doctor and ask.

^^^ nothing I've tried has worked. My skin gets red and itchy... not fun.^^^^ what does that have to do with anything? I typically don't walk to and from the office and around campus in a bathing suit with no shirt for 2-3 hours at a time...[Edited on May 20, 2008 at 4:38 PM. Reason : x]
