Depending on how far you have to really make that $12 stretch, take it to the Food Dog, buy a Deuce Deuce and get $200 cash back (or whatever their max is) You'll only get 1 overdraft bank fee and you'll buy yourself some time; this only works if you have foreseeable income in the relatively near future or you'll swim in the negatives forever.

^^ you know, banks keep up with that kind of stuff. Definanately don't make going into the negative a habit. Yare giving yourself a free loan, and they really don't like that. If at any time in the future you want to have a loan, open an account, w/e, they may see this and go "Hmm... this guy has a history of not being able to manage his money..."

Personally, I'd go ask for a small loan to get you buy. At least then, as you pay it back, hopefully, it'll earn you a little bit of credit too. That is at least an honest thing to do than just get cashback and borrow money that's not yours.

Wtf is wrong with some of you people that you have to play the system and be dishonest. That shit really bothers me.

And for the record I had to do several times when I was struggling during in my college career and have pretty damn good credit still......That $30 overdraft fee is their interest, and banks set it up so largest transactions process first on any given day, setting up for the most likely scenario to cause their customers to overdraft......so Fuck Em...if you overdraw $200, they're still getting 15% so the holier than thou bullshit really isn't necessary. Nothing dishonest about it; it's called thinking outside the box

I get paid bi-monthly, and I usually make sure I have two things bought right at the beginning of the pay period. First of the month I pay all my normal bills. Both paychecks I always make sure to get a large stock of groceries that will last at least two weeks and store some cash for gas. With those two things you can have almost nothing in the bank and still live comfortably while waiting for more to come in.

Here' a question for some econ brights, can you get a credit card and pre-pay it, have a positive balance? That would be an awesome way to pre-pay for gas for a certain amount of time and probably build pos credit too (as long as you used responsibly).

Okay... I didn't say that it was going to kill your credit or anything. But it might hurt your ability to get a future loan or w/e with that institution. If you have it setup where you can overdraft and w/e, then that's different. I know people who don't care if their accounts go in the negative. Their accounts get put on a hold status until they get it paid off, which is normally a week or so. There is no overdraft, it just simply goes into the negative. They pay no fee, nothing, and that bothers the hell out of me. Sometimes the banks will close their accounts, and I've seen that happen. Other times, they slip through the cracks because they pay it back before the institution sends out a letter.

I really don't care if you make a habit out of it or not, especially if there is an outrageous overdraft program setup smiliar to a unsecured loan. Blah w/e. I know it's not "dishonest." I can't think of a the word I was looking for there.
