That was me last night for like an hour

Killing time between a dinner meeting and the late night club crowd

It was actually pretty fun

only if
1) you're sitting at the bar and
2) there's a sports event on TV

or if

3) if you know the bartender.

I do it all the time. Actually my preferred way to start the night.

I think the bigger losers are the people who only go out in groups of six or more

some people won't go anywhere without their posse

I personally don't like be tied to one person or several people for the whole night....which is what usually happens when you go out with people. When I start off the night by myself, I either see people out that I know...if I want to continue to hang out with them I do. Or I start to call people and ask them whats up and where they're at, and then I can decide if I want to meet up with them. And then every now and then I'll meet someone new at a bar. People who always have to go out with other people need those people as social crutches.

And again, it always helps if you know the bartender. Because you can always talk to him/her and they'll usually introduce you to other people that come into the bar.

Phils tavern on 5th street is always fun

City tavern was fun but they closed down

East Blvd bar will probably be crowded with assholes

My favorite place up there is Jackalope Jacks on 7th

sit at the bar, smoke cigs, and stare at whatever sporting event is on tv even if its bull riding or greco-roman wrestling

pound the first few beers, it'll take the edge off

My suggestions would have been cedar st. or alexander micheals, but they are a bit of a walk for you.

How far of walk are you from plaza?

i go to bars all the time alone. you always end up meeting someone. when i'm out of town on business that's how i scored anything i needed while chilling with the locals.

I'll do this occasionally if I'm working out of town and the hotel has a bar in the lobby with a TV to watch ball games on. Otherwise, bars get boring to me.

Went to one one time.

We had dinner and a few beers, then went to bed. Most everyone else there was talking on cell phones and looking down at their drinks - if I wasn't with someone I'd have a hard time trying to wave and get their attention like a lunatic.
