5/15/2008 8:34:00 AM
^we eat the inside of the potato, not the skin
5/15/2008 8:36:55 AM
just stick with the butter and sour cream[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 8:37 AM. Reason : the skin is good too]
5/15/2008 8:37:07 AM
i eat the skin too. it's yummy (with enough butter and/or cheese)
5/15/2008 8:37:30 AM
I only eat the skin if I've made the potato....I'm all skurred they didn't wash it enough
5/15/2008 8:38:37 AM

5/15/2008 8:38:46 AM

5/15/2008 8:39:44 AM
perhaps you need to rethink your dieteating a baked potato at 8am, pretty much by itself is kinda a warning sign that you're not doing it right
5/15/2008 8:41:01 AM
toppings to the STD?[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 8:41 AM. Reason : ^why you ewwing me sir?]
5/15/2008 8:41:11 AM
well i woke up at 8pm pacific time last night, so this isn't exactly breakfast for me.^standard being butter/sour cream etc.....[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 8:45 AM. Reason : k]
5/15/2008 8:42:14 AM
To make it crisper, put a light coating of olive oil on it (or any oil of your choice). Also, after you coat it, put sea salt on it. Wrap with tin foil. Bake in the oven for 50 minutes to an hour. Crispy skinned baked potatoes are the result.
^cool, thx
5/15/2008 8:49:20 AM
is the potato your entire meal?
5/15/2008 8:51:03 AM
yea, i mean i kinda eat a lot of little meals, i think i'm just gonna make fries instead since they take less time to cook.
5/15/2008 8:55:08 AM
Try some of these as well:http://southernfood.about.com/od/bakedroastedpotatoes/Baked_and_Roasted_Potatoes.htm
5/15/2008 8:57:14 AM
tons of shredded cheese FTW
5/15/2008 9:04:39 AM
Ketchup and sour cream is the best on a baked potato. I do this at Wendy's all the time and I eat the skin too. Guess I'm strange. Can't stand butter on it though.
5/15/2008 9:18:16 AM
If he's vegan then he can't have cheese (or presumably most types of ranch dressing). Vegan just seems like it's way too much trouble to deal with. I think I could handle being a vegetarian, I wouldn't want to be one but I could deal with it, but not vegan. No milk, no eggs, no cheese, no meat... fuck!
5/15/2008 9:18:59 AM
it's not that hard really.in fact, i cooked a meal out of a vegan cookbook last nightdont know why i have one, but i do
5/15/2008 9:21:29 AM
skin is delicious when all crispy and covered in kosher or sea salt.
5/15/2008 9:22:02 AM
^^strange!!I guess if you sit down and really think it out, it wouldn't be hard. I just tried thinking of what I'm cooking tonight. I was gonna say it could be vegan, but then I remembered that meat isn't part of that whole deal haha [Edited on May 15, 2008 at 9:23 AM. Reason : I want a baked potato for lunch ]
5/15/2008 9:23:10 AM
Yeah, I'm sure on a meal by meal basis it wouldn't be that bad but do you know how much shit is made with egg or milk products... fucking everything! I mean, being a really strict vegan is a pain in the balls. Of course, if you're dedicated enough to some cause (whether ethical or perceived health reasons) I'm sure you can make it work, but living with it on a daily basis seems like a bitch.
5/15/2008 9:24:25 AM
yeah, i dont see how you could comfortably eat out and that's a huge pain in the ballsi mean, most cities will have specifically vegan joints, but just a few
5/15/2008 9:26:48 AM
5/15/2008 9:27:52 AM
As an aside, this pomegranate/acai juice I'm drinking is the fucking bomb!
5/15/2008 9:28:38 AM
i dont even know what acai looks like but had a raspberry/acai/banana drink yesterday that was pretty rokken[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 9:31 AM. Reason : e]

They're berries found in the tropics. I remember a couple of years back reading about how acai was going to be the new pomegranate. Shonuff that shits in everything now.
5/15/2008 9:38:24 AM
So tropicana has this new juice out with that acai berry in it. The commercial is so sexy...I was like OMG DO ME NOW and bring me some of that juice too! haha
5/15/2008 9:39:43 AM
fries are in the oven, they're gonna be delicious....oh and about all the vegan comments, it's pretty interesting trying to find a variety of meals to eat that are vegan (my roommate laughs at me bc pasta and rice and beans are very frequent meals for me). I mean i pretty much cook every meal at home, and when i shop at the grocery store and read the label on an item, i probably end up putting back about 95% of them. I also pay a lot of attention to making sure i get enough protein and stuff, but nuts and beans are good for that. but it's all good I have been meaning to experiment with tofu and curry, but haven't really done much of it yet.as far as dining out goes, there are actually a few restaurants in town that have a semi-vegan menu so i can eat there, or i can pretty much get a salad . I've actually been entertaining ideas about opening up a vegan catering business. you could make a website and even like freeze dry and ship the meals. wouldn't do it yet probably, but maybe sometime far down the road i guess.
5/15/2008 9:49:21 AM
freeze dry, lolI think you mean ship on dry ice. Unless vegan food is so nasty that freeze drying won't make it any worse.I'd never be vegan. Gluten free, low soy, and vegan would be impossible. Salad, veggies, beans, rice. No thanks.
5/15/2008 9:58:08 AM
yea i mean i just said freeze dry, i'm not sure what the "right" term is, but i know you can somehow ship prepared meals so they're still good and shit.edit: and dude, rice and beans is possibly one of the best meals ever. super low in fat/ high in protein, and if you know how to season your beans properly, delicious.[Edited on May 15, 2008 at 10:01 AM.
