So I'm almost 100% sure this is software, but I thought I'd ask for a second opinion or 100. I have 20-70 tabs open all the time. It seems like when I get passed a threshold of images on these pages, windows shits every where and I have all kinds of video issues, where windows smear, I can't read pages, basically the screen doesn't update and often I can't get to be able to view anything well again consistantly. I think I might just be low on video memory, but shouldnt only what's currently being rendered be in video memory? I'm using firefox3 nightly, 7900gs 256mb, 1gb ram, 4400+x2 XP SP3.[Edited on May 13, 2008 at 10:38 AM. Reason : sigh, fucked up the title]

someone should stuff the ie7/8 render engine into ie6/explorer. That would own p. hard.

Yep, you need more ram.

ram is dirt cheap these days...sell that 1gb (whether 1 stick or 2 512mb sticks) and get two 1gb sticks for less than $40

yeah, I don't run ddr2. ddr1 still costs an arm and a leg. also, firefox only grabs ~300mb at most with 70 tabs open.

oh...might i suggest getting a new mobo and ram? it'd probably be cheaper than getting another 1gb stick of DDR

I'd rather run a linux box and xforward to my desktop than buy a new board, chip, and ram

managed to find 2gb of ddr1 for $69.. we'll see

using firefox 3 nightly build

that fixed it, unfortunately my 2gb pair doesnt coexist with my 1gb pair, so only 2gb, not 3gb
