ok, im a bit ashamed for watching this, but they put a guy on tonight with a prosthetic leg. guy did pretty good for what he had to work with, but WHAT THE FUCK were the producers thinking? they had him do a wall climbing event? tight ropes? up hill treadmills? swimming? sounds pretty fuckin sadistic, if they wanted to give the guy any chance at winning, i think they should have given him another handicapped man to fight against, or fitted the gladiators with prosthetics.anyway, on a side note, looks like they actually added some new shit for this season. my excuse for watching this is that NBC is the only channel i get. so yea, i live for thursday nights.

So the 2-hour premiere came on tonight and i forgot all about it..all new games (including new eliminator)also, the winners from last season are gladiators now (Jet and Rocket)how many contestants did they have tonight? I saw it was 2 hours....did they just have 4 contestants like usual? i wonder if they will reair it.
5/12/2008 10:05:22 PM
that guy just did what I bet 90% of us couldn't do. I'm still amazed.
5/12/2008 10:07:02 PM
I'm amazed that contestants can't handle the uphill treadmill.
5/12/2008 10:08:50 PM
^^i agree, but still, pitting that guy against someone with 2 real legs just seemed like cruel and unusual punishment. i was pulling for him to win, i just thought maybe the producers could have put in some events that relied so heavily on leg/foot agility.^^^yea, 4 contestants. of course, 1 hot chick per pairing. and both lost. [Edited on May 12, 2008 at 10:11 PM. Reason : +^]

I knew that one-legged guy had no chance of winning it because of the eliminator, but it was impressive to see him gut it out and finish. Even though they turned off the travelator to let him get up it, it was still very impressive.
5/12/2008 10:10:59 PM
rocket ball is pretty cool.
5/12/2008 10:11:24 PM
^^well, they even have to turn that shit way down for most people to finish.IMO, they should put it back at the beginning. it's not a very action-packed finish. i miss the old "hope you pick the right door to bash through" final leg of the eliminator.[Edited on May 12, 2008 at 10:13 PM. Reason : goddammit, quit posting before i reply. +^]
5/12/2008 10:12:57 PM
i cant believe that fatass hellga is still a gladiatorshe really doesnt do shit, except make a big spash when losing at assault
5/12/2008 10:15:20 PM
Rocket Ball is indeed very cool. I'd love to know what type of system is used to shoot them up and then recycle for another use so quickly.Glad to see they added the ball pit to the eliminator course.I admired the man with the prosthetic leg and the effort he made to complete the course. Another contestant later this season will be deaf.If NBC wanted to have a "special challenges" edition of the program, that might be ok. To have these persons compete as regular contestants and up against "regular" is disturbing.
5/12/2008 10:22:26 PM
Fuck me, I forgot all about this.
5/12/2008 11:07:29 PM
Cant believe i missed it, bah!

I bet the uphill treadmill is WAY harder than we sitting at home on our couches think. Especially with such a steep grade, and after doing all those other obstacles before hand.
5/13/2008 10:04:27 AM
I agree, but why put it at the end when the guys are too tired to go up it? It makes it pretty anti- climactic to watch them just fall all over the place trying to get up it. This show is a classic case of fucking up something good. All they had to do was copy the old american gladiators EXACTLY as it was, maybe spruce some things up a bit and it would be great.
5/13/2008 10:11:30 AM
I did notice in the beginning of the show that one of the "new" challenges will be those giant rolling cages straight from the original series.
5/13/2008 10:40:31 AM
That ukranian chick is banging
5/13/2008 12:39:43 PM
^haha wasn't she part of the group that had a 9+ minute run?that's the one time AG did made a smart editing decision
5/13/2008 12:47:33 PM
I'm ready to see this new male gladiator they hinted at in the commercials, supposedly the 7 Foot Beast, haha, should be funny to see how they use this guy, definitely not going to be a speedster.
5/13/2008 12:49:53 PM
so, not to hijack the thread or anything, but did anyone else with a DVR has trouble recording this show?I've been reading about it a little online this morning and apparently NBC decided to activate a Copy Protection Flag (or whatever it's called) for this show + Medium, which comes on right after. This prevents DVRs (or at least computers running Windows Media Center) from recording the show.I'm just curious if it affected anyone's (proper) DVR box.Hopefully this wonderful trend continues!!!
5/13/2008 12:50:22 PM
i didn't have a problem with either show with DVRhaha which brings up the question- how does NBC expect me to not watch gladiators without dvr? i dvr it so i can skip through everything but events and not waste an hour 40 of my day
5/13/2008 1:03:51 PM
is gina carano still on the show?
5/13/2008 1:04:11 PM
yes

5/13/2008 1:41:55 PM
5/13/2008 1:55:05 PM
the "7 foot beast" is, I believe, Matt Morgan of Tough Enough and TNA "fame"
5/13/2008 3:21:14 PM
5/13/2008 6:21:04 PM
5/13/2008 7:05:18 PM
do the events still have way too many cuts/camera angles paired with cheesy music?if so, not gonna watch
5/13/2008 7:35:12 PM
5/13/2008 7:46:47 PM
^thats only when the person who reaches the treadmill first is terrible at it.if the person who reaches the treadmill first blows past it and then the 2nd person is struggling, its just like pouring salt in the wound. you already lost and you can't even finish the race.
5/13/2008 9:18:18 PM
Watching through the credits, I saw this quote:
5/13/2008 9:30:26 PM
5/13/2008 10:13:54 PM
5/13/2008 10:18:36 PM
The men's Wall was hilarious, both when Rocket climbed up ahead of the dude and just taunted him from above, and Zen just slipped under the dude and popped him right off.
5/20/2008 10:22:30 AM
is the wolf still a gladiator?
5/20/2008 12:49:41 PM
Yeah on the first episode he was in half the events.
5/20/2008 12:57:19 PM
phoenix would get it, hard
5/20/2008 2:20:01 PM
the men's eliminator was RIGGEDboth guys couldn't get up the travelatorthen all of a sudden they both get up at the same time.....
5/20/2008 4:12:42 PM
thats because they slowed it down enough for them to do it finally. they've had to do that in most episodes, sometimes stopping it completely so that the last person can finish
5/20/2008 4:14:49 PM
It should be at the start so they have the energy to get up the damn thing. THis show blows.
5/20/2008 4:20:49 PM
they must have it slower for the girls than the guys, because that chick finished in under 3 minutes, whereas a walking piece of muscle couldn't do it in less than 9
5/20/2008 4:53:59 PM
walking pieces of muscle are heavier, and those guys probably don't work the legs much. That said, I thought they would make it less sever that last year after how so many people couldn't finish last, but it looks liket hey made it tougher. Crazy.
5/22/2008 2:19:35 PM
I'm not liking this new policy of not showing all of the contests. NBC is giving highlights of some of the contests and saying that you can watch the entire contest on nbc.com.
