So...if all works at as hopefully planned, I will be buying a house and would like to put a fence up for my dogs. Anyone recommend a good company to do such?

i used seegars not too long ago for a 4' wooden picket. of the 3 i got estimates from, they were the cheapest, and if you pay up front, they will knock (i think) 10% off the total. i believe they are the biggest fence contractor in the area, at least definitely one of the biggest. i was very pleased with the result, even after they built the fence in contact with a tree (i took great pains in clearing the fence line myself and instructing them on where exactly to run it). they sent a letter stating that if the tree ever damaged the fence, they would repair that section of the fence, no questions asked. the work was timely, they promise 3 business days, but since they started on a friday, it was done monday (2 business days). they even seemed willing to bump me up in line if i felt my fence was urgent, but if not, they would start within 2 weeks, which they did.

how many feet of fence did you need?

I work for a home builder and the guy we use to do decks and such also does fences and he charges about $13.50-$14.00/ft for a 6 ft privacy.

hmm, damn, $12 for a 4' picket, i can't imagine what a 6' privacy fence would run.....I'm gonna need somewhere between 220-250ft, depending on how I route it, with at least 7 corners/ends and 2 gates. I'll probably end up doing it myself, but still gonna run upwards of $1500-2000 for raw material and rentals, i bet

anybody know a ballpark $/lf figure for electric fencing? probably 8' high and a good few hundred linear feet...getting a lot of breakins at work at night...not in the building but in the fence and then stealing shitits already got barbed and razor wire but they just cut through or use pliers to remove the clips that hold the chain link to the posts and then get underneath]

what if we keep the insulated handles far enough on the inside where the circuit can only be broken from the inside?[Edited on May 12, 2008 at 6:32 PM. Reason : 65,000 posts w00t]
