you can probably get more than $200 for them on eBay, no? They're still hard to find in a lot of places.

I just ordered 2...gonna sell the other, just happy to get one for ~$90-$100.

^^Wish I could have gotten out of sales tax too though.

^Even if you got more than $200, youve got eBay/Paypal fees, so it would be a wash.

Thats FU'ed...

So that message doesnt say what the problem was!!! Was it that you were only allowed to buy 1 of thoose? I know that the Q9450's are in high demand and most places only allow you to buy 1.

no, they tried to delivery intercept EVERYONE's order...

luckily SOME people had their shipment delivered before they could delivery intercept.

which makes it an even MORE blantant lie (about shipping the wrong part)

since

no, it makes sense...they really screwed up and are trying to fix it before it reaches the consumer

that said, yes, it's retarded, and i would think that once it's shipped, the shipper should have no control over it...i'd call UPS or FedEx or whomever and see if they'll ignore the shipper's request

Nah, UPS wont do that, have you not seen the "White Board" commericals from TV. They taught the ability of the shippers to do just that. Supposedly gives the shipper more control over the inventory.

I think you'll get it.

Mine shows "out for delivery", and THEN "delivery intercept successful" 3 hours later. Not holding my breath. We'll see how that one pans out.

I can't believe they'd do something like this over such a small mistake. I went and bought a shit load of other components after they shipped the chip. I think it's a reasonable assumption once they ship the damn thing. unreal.

Its wierd, CompUSA and TigerDirect have the exact same site and content layout.

I guess they are the same parent company.

TigerDirect bought out CompUSA when they closed down all the stores. Then they reopened some of the stores, so I'm guessing they are going to have the same business model (mostly online w/some B&M presence). Also, CompUSA obviously inherited TigerDirect's top notch customer service along the way.

The mistake, I'm guessing, is that they priced the processor wrong. It was $140 + tax/s/h, when it usually sells for $190-$200.

They are trying to play it off like they shipped the wrong processor, and don't/won't have any E8400's in stock. Even though they are listing mobo+cpu bundles that include the e8400 on their site right now.

ok, so i called up customer service... an hour later i talk to a supervisor who's been there 10 years, i tell him the problem, he's reluctant to do anything about it, telling me basically what's he's been told to tell me (which is obvious)

they've told me
a) they can't redirect a package once a delivery intercept is authorized.
(which I called up UPS while on hold and they told me it hadn't been intercepted yet, so it COULD)
b) they shipped me the wrong item
(which i know hundreds of orders that have been shipped the right item and no one has gotten the wrong item.)
c) he said they had no more inventory and that they couldn't ship me the right item.

so i told him, look, if it was a price mistake, i'd rather hear the truth... but to tell hundreds if not thousands of people that they shipped me the wrong item, and that while they had the item on the website for sale, they no longer have any in stock whatsoever?

so after looking up the current price he said, you know what, it very well could have been a price mistake, let me talk to VP of sales.

get's back on the phone and told me that the VP of sales confessed and that it was indeed a price mistake....

i told him how disappointed i was but glad to hear the truth, just frustrated because i feel lied to. he says he apologizes as well and says that he feels lied to as well and that here he was telling me one thing that he was told to tell me, yet it wasn't true....

anyhow, he offered to honor 1 cpu at the price of 140, but not all 3.

and get this... free shipping and expedited delivery... but wait... i thought it was back-ordered???!?!??!?!?

Yes, this was too good to be true.

But at least you got 1 for $140. If you indeed get it in a few days, post the tracking results on other forums so that others can vent their emotions too.

2 E8400 just delivered to my door!

Sorry to rub salt in the wounds...Im actually surprised I got this...it didnt actually go through for a couple of days, I guess because my Paypal balance did not cover the price and it had to do a funds transfer from my bank. Figured they would have caught this one given that, rather than ones that were able to ship the next day.

Any suggestions on a good motherboard for an HTPC?

careful with the gigabyte boards, they are having issues in the newer bioses with DPC latency, which can cause audio/video stutter. They are working through it right now, you can request a beta BIOS directly from them but those seem to be hit or miss so far.

yea, I've read that before, it seems to be hit or miss, the F8f BIOS is publicly available on their website.

i'm running the GA-P35-DS3L w/ E8400 right now on my desktop with no DPC latency issues

Thanks...Ive been looking at the ASUS P5E-VM...I do want a board with HDMI because Id like to avoid getting a graphics card if possible (I just need this PC for video playback/capture...wont be playing any games on it). Was hoping I could find something a little bit cheaper though.

i dont think you're going to find a cheap mobo with onboard HDMI. Feature is too new to be on anything but LEET boards right now.

Radeon 3450 is passively cooled, around $50 and has HDMI audio+video.

doubt this is actually true, but I called about the order yesterday and of course they claimed the wrong item was shipped. I was told that a re-shipment was "already setup" and it should be going out within the next few days.

I'm calling back later today to harass them some more.

^so you didn't get the item yesterday when it said "out for delivery"?

^^well there have been others (on slickdeals) that have gotten their packages even after the delivery intercept....

for example:

05/14/2008 1:06 P.M. DELIVERY
05/14/2008 9:56 A.M. THE SHIPPER HAS REQUESTED A DELIVERY INTERCEPT FOR THIS PACKAGE / RETURN TO SENDER PENDING

how messed up is that?

there are two stages to the delivery intercept - "pending" and "successful"

it will still get delivered if it is only sitting at "pending", so there's hope!
