screw altruism seeing as how it doesn't exist anyway. So last night I was going to CVS and I park my car and I see a note written on a box that says, 'Homeless' and I see a sort of tricycle with a cart like thing attached behind him and there's a dog lying on it. So I go inside and get what I need and then get an $8.00 bag of Purina One dog food, a $4.00 thing of rawhide chews and a $3.00 box of Special K Breakfast bars. I then gave the bag with everything in it to the homeless guy.

fact: good deeds only count if posted on tww
4/28/2008 9:25:59 PM
fact: hearing other people's good deeds leads to more people doing deeds so really, this thread in and of itself is a good deed.]]
4/28/2008 9:27:02 PM
ahahhahahaha$12 to the dog$3 to the dudethere's looking out for your fellow man!
4/28/2008 9:28:18 PM

4/28/2008 9:28:39 PM
4/28/2008 9:30:29 PM
oh...that's classic
4/28/2008 9:30:42 PM
To be honest with you, I didn't want to spend anything on the dude but I wanted to make sure there was no mistaking which food was for who.
4/28/2008 9:31:55 PM

4/28/2008 9:32:22 PM

4/28/2008 9:33:03 PM
this may not be the most popular opinion but WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU FEED A DOG BEFORE YOU FED A HUMAN?!?!?[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 9:33 PM. Reason : hf]
4/28/2008 9:33:16 PM
i have just the trophy.
4/28/2008 9:33:30 PM
it's fucked upbut the logic is that dogs NEED uswhen they really don'tpeople need peoplebut people don't give a shit about peopleonly doggies
4/28/2008 9:34:22 PM
doesn't boasting about a good deed cancel out the actual good deed?
4/28/2008 9:34:27 PM
Because without knowing anything about the guy or the dog other than that they are homeless...what I DO know, is that regardless of anything else, I know for 100% that the DOG didn't choose to be homeless, can't say the same for the dude.^no.....because like I say, altruism doesn't exist and the fact remains that no matter how many people I tell....the deed was still done.[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 9:35 PM. ^^only slightlybut your stupid fucking philosophical outlook on life certainly does cancel out whatever trite deed you think you did to win your sorry ass into paradise[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 9:35 PM. Reason : .]

I went with a friend to Ye Olde Starbucks on Hillsborough and there was a homeless guy chillin' on the trashcan outside. My friend decided to buy him a mocha frappucchino and when she came out and gave it to him he said, "I've never had one of these. It'd be better with booze."
4/28/2008 9:36:24 PM
it's fucked up to help a dog 4x as much as another human being
4/28/2008 9:36:51 PM
could've just bought the dog
4/28/2008 9:36:55 PM
I didn't read the part about the dog and thought you bought the dude the dog food, which would have been funny as shit.
4/28/2008 9:37:17 PM
don't worry mytwocents, i would've helped the dog first, too.
4/28/2008 9:38:10 PM
when I go to S. Korea, i'm going to get some good dog soupand think of this
4/28/2008 9:38:15 PM
EVERYONE would of helped the dog firstbecause people's priorities are all screwed up
4/28/2008 9:38:45 PM
I consider a dog to be a (very bizarre) luxury that people keep when they can afford it. The thought of someone who is destitute trying to support a dog is fucking ridiculous.
4/28/2008 9:39:26 PM
wolfpackgrrr - I'm just hoping that the guy didn't try and exchange anything for alcohol.nastoute - it's not fucked up. You even said it yourself. Dogs NEED us to take care of them.
4/28/2008 9:39:38 PM
he not supporting that dogthey're homeless buddies
4/28/2008 9:39:53 PM

I saw a mom and a kid crossing the road in the pouring rain.. pulled over, gave them my umbrella asked if they needed any more help, told them to have a nice day and to keep the umbrella. Give me a medal or something... hahaha oh yeah and I teach middle school.. whats your point
4/28/2008 9:45:18 PM
^^^^That show life after people said that only the medium size dogs don't need us, the really big ones and the really small ones do need us.[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 9:45 PM. Reason : ]

i think the real question is, how much was the umbrella worth?I guess one of the only things more tacky than posting the good deed is making sure everyone knows how much it set you back.[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 9:48 PM. Reason : .]
4/28/2008 9:47:25 PM
i'm still tripping on the 4 to 1 factor
4/28/2008 9:48:42 PM
4/28/2008 9:49:14 PM
there was some study that concluded with 98% of the people studied claiming to rather help a stray dog than a homeless person
17.50 or something like that.. I don't know its one of those golf umbrellas. I am going to Afghanistan in 2 months so screw it I don't need it.
4/28/2008 9:50:07 PM
are you backpacking through?do you need a list of hostels?
4/28/2008 9:51:01 PM
I'd rather help the dog too.
4/28/2008 9:51:05 PM

I hear Kandahar is nice this time of year.
4/28/2008 9:52:23 PM
well I like to know where the good people at so this thread gives me some insight.
4/28/2008 10:04:35 PM
It was a good deed and a selfless act until you felt the need to share it with the internet. Now it's just self-congratulatory and egotistical.
4/28/2008 10:14:21 PM
There's a good Norm McDonald bit about a homeless guy with a dog. To the dog it just seems like the world's longest walk.
4/28/2008 10:16:19 PM
I pulled over into a parking lot, ran out back into the road, and helped a guy that was pushing his car, while stearing. People were lined up behind him, looking enraged, and no one was doing jack shit.
4/28/2008 10:19:49 PM
adumb. Find me a good deed that is totally selfless. Really. Try.

^ Stealing a homeless man's dog so that he won't starve to death trying to feed it.[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 10:27 PM. Reason : fd]
4/28/2008 10:27:08 PM
Except that if anyone saw this happening, guaranteed they would then help the homeless man call the police to report the dognapping.
