I need to get my tires on my 07 kawa ninja 250 changed. Matison (where I ordered the tires from) wants $55 a tire to change them. Few people have told me thats too much to charge (especially since I bought the tires there). But they are the only kawa dealer listed on the kawasaki search site, so I assume they are the only kawa certified shop. Can I take the ninja to a non-kawa shop to get this done and expect it to be done correctly and well? Can anyone recommend a good bike mechanic or shop that will do a good job and can be trusted? Team powersports is where I was thinking of. They are just about as far away though, but an easier (70 vs capital) ride down. But is there any risk with having a non certified mechanic for your make do it? Or are all tires pretty much standard in how to remove and change? Also, cycle gear has a shop? Wouldnt the new tires have to be balanced after mounted? I thought cycle gear just sold gear and parts.

Changing a tire is the same for almost ALL bikes.

Cycle gear does in fact install tires and do other work...

I was there a few days ago and saw a sign that said $35 to mount/balance a tire that you bought somewhere else.

Cycle gear requires that you bring the wheels in off the bike though, they won't take them off.

Yeah, called cycle gear yesterday. Since removing the wheels is half the work anyways, $35 for that isnt worth it really. Does anyone else have a place they recommend for good, reliable service? I was thinking that Matison might do more work/double-checking since they charge more and they are a big dealership. Although team powersports as buttseks said is closer (riding with a nail in the back is worrisome) and they rave about their service center on their site. I'll have to call both and see what they say they do.

I just called Team Powersports. They want $73.20 per tire! Looks like Im not going there. Anyone know of any other shops besides that one and Matison? I think those are the only ones I've seen close at all.

Performance honda wants 54, matison 55. Damn, maybe Ill call the BMW/triumph dealer next.

V Well, with performance honda prices, i might as well just take it to matison right up the road since they deal in my make. although every time I talk to the service guy he sounds like hes in a real pissy mood.

Performance honda used to have a really good shop, and they seemd pretty fair, unsure of the new people in there though, Jake the old manager was a stand up guy, and was honest.
