I am looking for someone with knowledge of residential building codes. I just bought a townhome and I am going to be adding a shower to a half bath. I just want to make sure that it will meet all requirements before I start. If I can ask you a few questions or you know where I can find the information, please let me know! Thanks!

you SHOULD have a permit, especially if there is plumbing (which there is), mechanical (exhaust fan?) or electrical

What is your budget? Are you going to have to knock down a wall, ie make more room for the shower? BTW, most GC's will come to your place and check it out for free. They'll bid the job and take care of the paperwork process-at least advise you as to what you need to do. Make sure they are licensed and insured.

We will be taking out the wall between the bathroom and the closet (My dad is doing that). He is also going to install the new sink and shower for me. Basically, I just need someone to move the sink plumbing and install the plumbing for the shower (toilet is staying where it is).
