4/27/2008 5:39:10 PM
there's a small place in that shopping center on the corner of oberlin and glenwood. it's not cheap, but i think it's pretty good.[Edited on April 27, 2008 at 5:41 PM. Reason : they're closed on sunday, though.]
4/27/2008 5:40:58 PM
sushi tsune on hillsborough is decent
4/27/2008 5:41:13 PM
sakura and hibachi express are both pretty nastyhit up fujiyama on kildaire farm or sushi thai (yes, they have japanese food) right down the road on kilmayne
4/27/2008 5:41:14 PM
China Town buffet in Cary has a huge sushi bar and a hibachi grill in addition to some pretty good chinese food.Lunch is $10, dinner is $15 but you get all you can eat crab legs with it.

there's also akari in mission valley. it's the americanized japanese food like sakura, but still tasty, and the owners and employees are cool guys. they do daily specials also.try the geisha roll, it's great![Edited on April 27, 2008 at 5:47 PM. Reason : geisha]

An in Cary is great pan-Asian food, but it's pricey and a bit more formal.
4/27/2008 5:51:23 PM
4/27/2008 5:54:10 PM
Kashin in Crossroads is good, but I will second Akari. It's a very good restaurant and the owners are extremely nice.
4/27/2008 6:04:56 PM
kanki or kabuki kabuki in cary is really good

4/27/2008 8:11:19 PM
^ actually I think 2 of us mentioned Sushi-thai, but another mention is deserved. I forgot about Waraji and An...which are both great!
4/27/2008 8:13:49 PM
If you think Sakura is good then don't bother spending money on real Japanese food.
4/27/2008 8:15:09 PM
Sushi-ThaiKashinAnd if you are near Wake Forest, Hayashi. I've only been there once and didn't have sushi, but what I had was awesome. A friend of mine claims it's the best Japanese food and the best sushi he's ever had.

neo china in caryalso neo china in durham -- my parents neighbors own that one and parts of their family own the cary one
4/27/2008 8:17:34 PM
little tokyo over off of where maynard and e. chatham intersect is really good. its really small though so if you go during the busy dinner hours you'll have a wait.
4/27/2008 8:18:40 PM

4/27/2008 8:19:22 PM

4/27/2008 8:19:58 PM
ah no, i did read the threadbut since it was the first thing that popped into my head it just came outthere is a place off tryon in the harris teeter shopping center toward the regency center office complexits called tokyo something

Little Tokyo has some dank food in an unlikely hole in the wall.
4/27/2008 9:42:45 PM
Japanesse food or even Vietnamese food both PWN chinese food imho.I don't get why the later 2 are not more popular. Chinesse food just always has the overly greasy sesame oil taste.
4/28/2008 12:16:37 AM
i really like akari express

4/28/2008 2:27:10 AM
i can't believe "good japanese" and "sakura on hillsborough" were used in the same sentence.also i second sushi thai. there was also a sushi place in durham i went to last year that was really good (near the tobacco district stuff -- kinda near that oyster bar place) but i can't remember the name.[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 2:33 AM. THE JAPANESE SPOT IN THE MALL BY THE HAT STORE ALL THE WAY IN THE CORNER IN GOOD AS FUCK
4/28/2008 2:34:20 PM
4/28/2008 2:35:07 PM
i want good japanese...thats why i said don't suggest somewhere like hibachi express or sakura...can be a little nicer restaurant or just somewhere to get take-out...just good quality
4/28/2008 2:46:34 PM
If you want Sushi, go to Waraji or Shabu Shabu. I prefer the former, but you can also get Thai at Shabu Shabu. I've heard Sushi Thai in Cary is decent. The one in Raleigh has cool decorations, but they come with a terrible sanitation grade.
