So I just lost electricity in my living room in my apt. Everything else works so I'm guessing that it's a wiring issue? Whats the best way to figure out whats wrong? I called our building manager and they really can't do anything till monday. I tried turning everything in the breaker to off then back on and nothing helped. Any suggestions?

check and see if any of the outlets are gfci outlets that have tripped. They are the ones with the "Test" and "Reset" button on them and would be located somewhere that it could get wet . . . so in the kitchen, or bathroom, or maybe outside on a deck. The kitchen and bathroom should be on a different circuit than the living room, but I've seen stranger things.

Off an on power in only part of the house?Nothing I (not ECE major) know about wiring/electronics says that's good.I would turn the breaker off to that partof the house and leave it off till someone comes in to look at it.

^ Agreed, if you have a loose connection somewhere, very probable given the symptoms, it could start a fire. Turn off all lights and unplug everything on that circuit (ideally turn off that breaker if you know which it is) and wait until someone qualified can check things out.

called duke power energy yesterday and this guy came to look at it, found out everybody on the 19th, 20th, and 21st floor has half electricity. They said they'll come back today to fix it.

ok i'm aware that residental electricity is two-phase, did one of these phases just get cut out so it was single phase or was it more similar to a brownout?

They may just be working on it right now, they're not baller enough to leave the circuit hot AND work on it at the same time. Just chill and go out somewhere for a bit.

yea it came back, i love how they said they were shutting off the power from 1-2 and left it at our door AFTER 2 pm. it's so hot right now though. I only have one fan thats working the other one isn't and my AC isnt working either.
