Ok this is crazy. I wish i had waited to get my phone, but for any of you guys wanting to sign up with AT&T, amazon will be be selling (or rather giving away) phones for free or actually paying you to get the phone (for example the blackberry curve is selling for -75$) which means you get 75$ from amazon after the rebate. (w/ a 2 year contract obviously). I just think it's a great deal. You can get a Tilt for free. My question is, how does amazon make money? Do they get a big commission from at&t for signing up customers or something? http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html/ref=xs_gb_20_center-2_rw_uk_19426?ie=UTF8&docId=1000221951&pf_rd_p=305207801&pf_rd_s=right-1&pf_rd_t=701&pf_rd_i=20&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=18RFT8PK0S9DTEXDPTHP

4/24/2008 7:57:53 PM
way to use tinyurl...
4/24/2008 8:16:35 PM
how is it all AT&T phones when there's no iPhone?
4/24/2008 8:39:56 PM
^haha yeah that'll be the day, when apple offers the iphone w/ a rebate.
4/24/2008 8:43:07 PM
yeah i was hoping that maybe they had the iphone too although i knew they didn't before i clicked itthe tilt is a damn good deal though, i'd get it if it weren't hinged on a $175 rebate.

Amazon has been doing this shit forever. I got a Nextel i90c 5 years ago for -$50
4/24/2008 9:00:06 PM
booooo, family plans aren't eligible
4/24/2008 9:08:24 PM
4/24/2008 9:59:01 PM
ok who really thinks they would EVER do that with the iphone?
4/24/2008 10:02:12 PM
They've done this for a long, long time. Technically my w810i was -$100 last year.
4/24/2008 10:07:16 PM
so buy the phone and then get ripped off with at&t's data plansfuck that...
4/24/2008 11:19:13 PM
^i think i'm 30$/month for unlimited data. I guess there's cheaper plans out there though.
4/24/2008 11:52:55 PM
as much as i love the concept of having infinitely nicer phones to use, i think i can manage with shitty sprint phones and save 200/yr
4/25/2008 12:06:35 AM
SERO ftw
4/25/2008 3:03:12 AM
that's gay, i put my zip code in and says it's "currently unavailable", for the tilt that is.
4/25/2008 8:40:22 AM
thanks for the info! Just got my wife the blackberry curve for -$25.00!
4/25/2008 10:02:12 AM
tilt is sold out already
4/25/2008 10:13:30 AM
i think that when you sign up through amazon, you are essentially signing a contract with both at&t AND amazon, so if you break your contract you have double the early termination fees.at least that's the way it used to work, it might be worth it to read up on that.

4/25/2008 12:46:23 PM
I just bought one off of Amazon. One contract: AT&T
4/25/2008 12:54:59 PM
awesome. glad to hear they got rid of that. i think that was the sole reason i didn't buy from amazon back when i was looking at phones on there, but it was years ago.
4/25/2008 1:03:46 PM
Can you renew and get one too????
4/25/2008 1:22:30 PM
^i would think so. when i renewed a couple months ago they said all the same phone deals applied. So maybe it works the same with amazon.
4/25/2008 1:23:53 PM
you have to pay more if you are renewing, but that's cool. i got another tilt!sweeeeet.
4/26/2008 2:46:02 PM
^you mean just with amazon? Cause i know with AT&T the new phone deals are the same whether you are renewing or getting a new contract.wanna give me your old tilt? PLEEEEASSEEEEEEEEEE.[Edited on April 26, 2008 at 5:21 PM. Reason : ..]

it's alright i'm waiting for this and its lovely 3 inch 800 by 480 display (take that 480 by 320 iphone):http://gizmodo.com/354742/xperia-x1-hiptop-killer-sony-ericssons-first-video-plus-galleryit's also got a track pad instead of directional buttons which is a plus. And the qwerty keyboard looks great and easy to use. Hopefully it'll be out soon and won't cost 800$. Oh and htc makes it:http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/10/no-wonder-sony-ericssons-xperia-x1-is-so-good-htc-makes-it/[Edited on April 28, 2008 at 10:06 PM. Reason : .]
