in the time it's taken him to complain about the code being too complex, a new version of tdub could have been written that was better documented and better structured to avoid such problems in the future.

what he's saying about the pictures that are missing makes no sense.

nael, it's obvious that whatever you guys are doing is not working, so why don't you let those of us who know what we're doing give it a try?

frankly, i'm tired of paying money for something that's constantly broken. yes, i could just leave, but i'd rather not when the capability to fix the aforementioned problems is readily available but not utilized.

^^^ it should make total sense - this is a shit thread. reason: you make an assumption of motive by applying a reason to the site not performing 100% to your expectations. I want the site to work, just like everybody else, and occasionally make known my disapproval of the individuals responsible, but I don't insult them willy nilly in an area of the website devoted to problem solving, which you obviously are doing, not just by where you say it, but your approach is also all wrong. nael gets ad revenues from this site + money from premie subscriptions. if people are paying money for something, they expect it to work correctly and have all the functionality that is advertised.

normally people expect some sort of customer service for products they pay for - would you buy a television if it didn't come with a warranty?

if i were getting paid for tww radio, i'd have a lot more incentive to finish fixing it. i'm not, though, and, as such, it's pretty low on my list of priorities. school is over soon, so maybe sometime soon i'll finish it.

also, if you haven't noticed, i haven't been bitching about this like some other people... but it's been WAY too long now - shit shoulda been fixed.

btw, code for a site like this wouldn't take too long to write. message boards are pretty simple, and the rest of it (photo gallery, front page, chatterbox, and even school tool) would be pretty easy and could even be improved upon (think: ajax chatterbox... hell, ajax everything)

Because we all know that even if we did, that nobody would use it unless it replaced the current sites code. Attempts at making "TWW alternative" sites has been tried and always fails for that reason.

If nael would just take the skills of about 3 of us who have volunteered to lend their time, working together we could probably have this mess fixed in about a week tops. Heck, this place isn't like a high-end cms or a phpBB/vBulletin. It's really basic functionality that could be reimplemented quick.

http://www.wolfpacklife.com is one that comes to mind. I never said it competed, I said it failed. Read better you should do. The users are here on TWW/Brentroad and aren't very much willing to migrate.

Because this place is faring so well. I also said that this place is not phpBB/vBulletin. It's a lot simpler to re-implement. Hell you could probably just take phpBB, strip it of most of the features, and then template it to look exactly like this place. I doubt most people here would realize the subtleties. If you did that, hell, it wouldn't even take as long as I said in my other post.

I love the way this site looks. Simple, basic, very easy to use, and very easy to read a thread. I hate all the other message boards with all kinds of crap that makes it difficult to read threads. Avatars, flashy signatures, about 100 buttons next to each user to contact via AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, etc.

I'd like to see the photo gallery and search capabilities restored, well, because a lot of us are paying for something that we can't use. If the code that Jake wrote was really that nasty and hard to figure out, maybe I can understand nael's problems if he's not a programmer because I would be in the same boat. But we're approaching several weeks with the outages and I wonder how many people will start to cancel their subscriptions?

There are lots of people qualified on this site who can fix the problems and can add in tiny, functional improvements, and would probably gladly do so without pay or for a premium subscription.

i have seen it so many times in my line of work....someone buys a "business" and it fails due to people getting into stuff way over their heads....

also another reason is that what they thought they bought and what they get is totally different (they think they bought a gold mine but bought a goat and a skunk instead)
