So a friend of mine bought a motor that had "ignition issues due to wiring harness". He popped the valve cover and found thisIf it ran, do you think marvel mystery can clean this gunk. Or is he gonna have to take everything apart and hot tank this motor.

might as well rebuild it while you have it out.i bet that looks better than my celicas engine is that a ka24de?[Edited on April 24, 2008 at 10:17 AM. Reason : .]

I don't doubt that it'll run. I'd be worried about clogging an oil galley up though if he does anything to loosen that shit up.At the very least it'd be asking to clog the oil pump pickup screen

if your friend is going to do it, he might as well do it right
4/24/2008 10:39:19 AM
No not a KA. Guess again. hint look at the cam lobes

Drain the remaining oilFill it up to the oil filler cap with diesel fuelLet it sit for 2 daysDrain diesel fuel/sludge mixDo 2 oil changes with 5-10 mins idling in between, then drive for a day and so another oil change$profit

not a honda motor.Does the diesel trick really work?
4/24/2008 11:05:54 AM
i guess some kinda nissan from the timing chain.
4/24/2008 11:08:42 AM
sr20
4/24/2008 11:09:44 AM
SR20VE
4/24/2008 11:10:30 AM
yeah i couldn't remember the ones with the variable cams so i left the ending off.
4/24/2008 11:14:20 AM
looks like my old KA, actually better since my sister seized it.she will be brought back to live though, oh yes she will.
4/24/2008 11:25:42 AM
What is the motor going into ??
4/24/2008 11:38:40 AM
The KA would have a mount for the upper timing chain guide closer to the timing chain, and the intake mani looks a lot different. My guess would have gone to an SR, but I'm too late to guess
4/24/2008 11:38:49 AM
sentra se-r or infiniti g20
4/24/2008 11:46:08 AM
yeah i've driven a g20 (i know they're pretty much the same car) fun to drive!!
4/24/2008 11:51:14 AM
it definately wasnt any type of RWD engine..unless you like your throttle body or timing chain assembly smushed against the firewall
4/24/2008 11:51:52 AM
figured it was newer k series motor do to the chain. put motor in b12 sentra
4/24/2008 1:01:01 PM
4/24/2008 1:32:52 PM
The K20A engine uses a timing chain. hence why i said thatmy other comment was referring to oh its an sr motor. well then, drop it in this chassis

So is that the result of insufficient/nonexistent oil changes, or something else at work?
4/24/2008 2:20:27 PM
10km-15km driving the shit out of it without changing the oil
4/24/2008 3:43:36 PM
pump kerosene through the engine for a couple of days if you want a quick fix.marvel mystery oil won't do shit.

you make it so fucking easy
4/24/2008 7:46:12 PM
4/24/2008 8:13:08 PM
Oh come on guys. You know that slowblack96 is right. I mean, 10,000km is 6,213.71192 miles, and 15,000km is 9,320.56788 miles. Obviously driving a car between those said mileages is wrong and will likely cause muffler bearings or other shit to go bad. I mean come on..... For cereal and pop tarts, that's why we should ALWAYS change our oil at EXACTLY 3,000 miles! (or 4,828.032 km for you Canadian fuckers ) *sigh* that was funny to me.
4/24/2008 10:23:02 PM
since when did the trailer park trash of America convert to the metric system...i'll be damned if i go to jiffy lube to get a couple liters of oil instead of quarts[Edited on April 25, 2008 at 12:24 AM. Reason : 2 GALLON MILK JUGS]
4/25/2008 12:22:53 AM
