I'm bidding on an auction and it has about an hour left. right now the current bid is at my max bid. if i wanted to increase my max bid, could i just bid on it again?
4/22/2008 7:37:43 PM
yes, i recommend bidding your absolute max bid when there are 20 seconds left
4/22/2008 7:38:24 PM
Sniping ftw
4/22/2008 7:50:58 PM
its how i win all my bids
4/22/2008 7:52:48 PM
wait till under 20 secondsand most likely the person in 2nd place knows that you're at your top bid. if you bid properly you can see it didn't increase the "price" to ABOVE your bid price and only matched it--that means you're at the other persons exact maximum bidso yea, def raise it at the last sec[Edited on April 22, 2008 at 7:54 PM. eBay countdown...FTMFW!seriously...buy > buyer's tools > eBay countdown > PROFIT
4/22/2008 7:56:26 PM
so did you win?

4/22/2008 9:16:25 PM
it does if you dont want it to get outbid
4/22/2008 9:16:53 PM
Got it, turned out I didn't have to snipe myself anyway.
4/22/2008 9:17:19 PM
4/22/2008 9:29:14 PM
that works, yes...but i dont always want it to reach my max bidyou either understand my strategy and just feel the automated way is the way to goor you dontregardless, im not going to try to explain myself anymore...i dont feel like getting into an e-argument
4/22/2008 9:39:52 PM
It won't always reach your max bid.I seriously can't understand by now how most people do not have a clue how eBay bidding works.^And please explain your "strategy" then? [Edited on April 22, 2008 at 9:42 PM. Reason : .]
4/22/2008 9:41:33 PM
i said i wasn't going toyou'll just disagree or rebuttal with something elseand it doesn't matter to me
4/22/2008 9:44:00 PM
Its cool, I probably would get tired of being proven wrong over and over too.Anyway people, just enter in your max bid whenever you feel like it, it doesn't matter when you do it. [Edited on April 22, 2008 at 9:47 PM. Reason : .]
4/22/2008 9:45:16 PM
you have your way, i have mine, with which I've had great success
4/22/2008 9:49:13 PM
Technically, that is how it works, but in reality it doesn't. People bid early, and then they get outbid, and then they think to themselves, "hmmm... maybe I can bid just a little higher".
4/22/2008 9:50:04 PM
What we both are doing is the SAME EXACT THING. Thats what you are failing to understand. If your goal is to just win the item, then put your max bid at $1000 for an item that will only sell for a few hundred or whatever. I guarantee you that you will win every single thing you bid on.Now if you want to set a limit for yourself, then just throw in a max bid whenever and if you get topped, then thats it, auction over, you lose.[Edited on April 22, 2008 at 9:51 PM. 4/22/2008 9:50:14 PM
By sniping an auction at the last second, you are removing the ability of the other bidders to consider raising their max bid.
4/22/2008 9:51:44 PM
no i understand your, and apparently the 'official', methodand in many cases they will work the same wayand if you are being concrete about something being your absolute maximum bid, then you are rightbut like Vulcan said, sometimes your maximum bid isnt actually your true maximum bid
4/22/2008 9:52:10 PM
^^^That has no effect on the out come if your max bid your are throwing in at the last possible second is still not higher than someone elses.
4/22/2008 9:52:50 PM
You're thinking too logically. People like you (and me) who determine the max they are willing to pay for an item and do not waver on that are in the minority. Most people are not like that.Say someone decides the max they are willing to pay for an item. There are 2 days left in the auction. They place their bid. They are outbid. End of story, right?Nope. Over the next day or so it slowly eats away at them until they justify paying a little bit more. And then they bid again. Sometimes again. And again.
4/22/2008 9:55:44 PM
^yeah, you are right.
4/22/2008 9:57:33 PM
you can strategize your bidding based on the current high bidder's bid historyif they have many bids then they are more likely to have a higher maximum established, if they only have a few, then they probably have truly only bid what the current highest bid listed isand regarding a max bid, there's nothing wrong with trying to reduce the actual selling price as much as you can

^yea, I bid once, usually a day out or better and hope for the best. No re-bids here, just wait for the next one to come around. And this bid-sniping crap has driven me away from eBay. Other auction sites I've used have a policy that if someone bids within the last 30 minutes it's open for another 30 minutes (there has to be a minimum of 30 minutes without a bid for an auction to end successfully). I love that feature, and provides plenty of time to receive the e-mail and consider rebidding without some douche getting your goods for cheap.

i want this game.how much did it go for?
4/23/2008 12:40:41 AM
i got it for 58, $5 shippingfairly expensive compared to other past listings, but i got it without buying out a 65+ auction so i'm happy
4/23/2008 12:37:07 PM
i don't start bidding on anything until the last 15 seconds....if i watch it and if it goes higher than i want to bid...fuck it...i'll wait til somebody else puts it on there later....that is why i love ebay countdown....i can snipe the shit out of a bid for $1 and the other dumb ass doesn't have a chance to bid again....or i know instantly that i've been outbid and i can enter the max i'm willing to pay....and it doesn't give me a chance to bid again and spend more than i want to and they don't have a chance to outbid me.....why would i put in my max bid early and give them the chance to outbid me when i can wait until the very end and get it for much less than i'm willing to pay....this is logic to me...but i'm a woman...what do i know[Edited on April 23, 2008 at 12:59 PM. 4/23/2008 12:59:10 PM
that isn't a bad price for that game. i can't believe some ebay stores are selling it for $100+^ your logic makes sense to me... sniping ftw
4/23/2008 1:01:43 PM
i usually snipe, but i wasn't sure of my schedule and figured that 58 would be my max no matter what, since many buy it now auctions are priced at 65 and above...so with shipping 58 would go to 63, and not much of a savings.
4/23/2008 1:03:17 PM
Wow.Epic Fail. Today just keeps getting better and better.Got the game today, pretty happy about it, pop it in...and the fighters are all glitched out.Do not want . At least I still have a Dreamcast with this game at home...http://youtube.com/watch?v=AhjUF7JOCzU&feature=related
