Torque is a rotational force. If this video were not fake, the kite surfer's initial injuries would be due to his mass accelerating at a high rate due to the momentum of the plane.

yes things rotate to make the plane move IN A GENERALLY STRAIGHT LINE. While travelling in this straight line, the plane would injure the fictitious kiteboarder.

You should know, however that the plane, in this scenario, would not apply torque to the body of the kiteboarder and that the video is fake. Thank you.

no, he would still be wrong. Torque in a vehicle is a measurement of the vehicles ability to accelerate, but only because of the engines ability to generate rotational force around the crankshaft. Again, torque is measuring rotational force and is only an indicator of lateral acceleration.


Yes the engines are spinning, but their rotation is perpendicular to the direction of flight and thus not the force acting directly on the kite boarder. It is the force turning the turbines which convert part of said torque into lateral energy.

what we are dealing with here are shearing forces that would have broken all his rigging/tore his chute and dropped him in the water...no way he could have been snapped up and gone from ~5mph to ~200 mph immediately. something has to give.
