I've been wanting to put a nice pair of high / low beam xenon head lights for my 04 accord coupe and during my search, I stumbled on this:http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Xenon-HID-Light-Bulbs-Combo-for-90-06-Honda-Accord/2083906/product.html?reviewsort=0&reviewpage=1Are they any good ? Some comments on that link suggest that they beam blue light and they are not bright enough at 100W !! Elsewhere, I've found similar "blue" xenon bulbs, and I just don't know if I should be getting those. What kinda xenon headlights should I buy (and from where??) to get nice, legal, white light?

those aren't HIDthose are just blue headlight bulbs[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 3:17 AM. Reason : actual HID is expensive and a little more involved]

You won't ever get nice, legal, white light.Modifying your headlights is illegal, as they are then not DOT approved. If you have projector housings (the type where there is the glass bubble) as oposed to a reflector housing, you can get a "drop in" kit. These run anywhere from $80 to $200.4300k is the most visible light, where 6000k is a little whiter, and 8000k is bluish, but has significantly less light output.

You'll need to buy an after market projector kit for your car and then HID's separately.Even then its hit or miss.

As said, those arn't true HID.However, retrofitting in real HIDs is not that expensive as it was a few years ago. You could probably do it for about $150 or less. You will have to retrofit projectors into your headlights then drop in HIDs. My brother did this to his car using a combination of audi and nissan headlights/projectors. An "HID" kit does not cut it in an '03 accord headlight.check out http://www.hidplanet.com, I'm sure you can find parts there to help. Either way it is technically illegal - due to the fact that people just put in blue "HID" headlights that blind the fuck out of oncoming traffic. You may also find this a good writeup on the differences between retrofitting in HID's and an "HID KIT"http://www.club240.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35798HID vs. HID kit:[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 2:21 PM. i got an HID setup off of a G35 from work. balast and all.wired it up. works well.\only problem you run into with hondas and cars that have high on one bulb and low on the other is that you gonna need two HIDs for each side if you want high low setup. but they have hids now that are high/low on one bulb.

i retrofitted some high/low projectors on my car. my car comes factory with hid's but they suck ass. you just have to see if there is enough room for the slightly longer dual unit (unless you do some mods). it's got a motorized cover that shields half the output for low and fully retracts for high.the higher end euro cars have what you need.i got mine from a left hand drive/right side of the road driving european bmw. audi is just as good, since they are made by the same company. get whichever is cheaper. just align them properly so that they aim true and don't blind other drivers. no one seems to have pride in craftsmanship anymore, so thats why most people slap them in and go.[Edited on April 20, 2008 at 1:43 PM. Reason : if you can find a newer TL hid's that would work and be cheaper.]
