in the news today on whether they're going to return to UNC. After the basketball ceremony, however, they wouldn't answer questions regarding their statuses...

Please dont. This will be their official decision thread.
4/18/2008 12:34:43 AM
i really hope lawson leaves. i don't care so much about ellington, and you know there's no way in hell hansbrough leaves.
4/18/2008 12:46:52 AM
Damn it son
4/18/2008 1:04:17 AM
Ellington IMHO would be the biggest loss because he hit big shots when it counted most and other teams really don't have an answer for him.[Edited on April 18, 2008 at 1:22 AM. Reason : FWIW with their class coming in they could all leave and still win the ACC]
4/18/2008 1:22:02 AM
^two of the incoming "mcdonald's all americans" have bust written all over them imo.
4/18/2008 1:32:22 AM
Wake Forest's class looks sick, easily better than UNC's.If this guy doesn't screw up too bad coaching them, they could have a great year.
4/18/2008 1:34:48 AM
^^McDonald's AA bust you don't say? That sounds more like your Dukies to me.Trust me UNC is going to win the ACC next year. ^Wake should be their main challenger.
4/18/2008 2:02:07 AM
where were they gonna go?
4/18/2008 9:45:20 AM
^^^ UCLA landed TWO pg's in 08 ranked higher than Drew. Homey is from LA too.
4/18/2008 9:46:42 AM
4/18/2008 9:59:54 AM
Yeah..Ellington's just a spot shooter. A very good one, but that's all he is. He relies on both an elite playmaker PG (Lawson) and a double-drawing inside threat (Hansbrough) to get his looks.
4/18/2008 11:13:42 AM
Ellington is a streaky shooter. What NBA team needs him right now? He's not a better SG than JJ Redick, and you see how well he's doing in the NBA right now. If Lawson leaves, they'll be relying on Bobby Frasor (coming off a torn ACL) and freshman Larry Drew to run their offense next year. Lawson leaving would hurt them the most.
4/18/2008 11:22:45 AM
you cant honestly compare Redick and Ellington. Redick is a better shooter but that is where the analysis should end. In every other skill that is important to basketball Ellington has the edge.
4/18/2008 11:36:56 AM
what exactly does Ellington do better than Redick? he doesn't have a great handle, he's a streakier shooter, not particularly great at creating his own shot.. he's probably a better athlete, but what does that mean if you aren't a great ballhandler? am i missing something here?
4/18/2008 12:46:00 PM
Lawson would easily be the biggest lossi hope he goes and i think he will
4/18/2008 12:58:04 PM
pretty sure hansbrough would be biggest loss. i really dislike the dude, but he carried them most of last season. losing lawson would be a close second. i think they could lose ellington without too much of an impact though. yeah, he hit some big shots, but he was no donald williams.
4/18/2008 1:43:18 PM
4/18/2008 2:03:39 PM
i hope they all leave, especially lawson and handsborough
4/18/2008 2:14:19 PM
As far as the Ellington and J.J. comparisons...I think a lot of people are forgetting how many shots JJ created for himself at Duke...especially his last two years. I don't know how many times I yelled at the TV "why the fuck is this un-athletic white guy driving to the basket at will!"Bottom line was that JJ was such a ridiculous shooter, that defenders had to give him more space than they normally would. I don't care if Ellington is more athletic and maybe a slightly better ball-handler (seriously guys, he's not a great ball-handler)...JJ got to the basket as well as, if not better, than Ellington. And out of those three...I'm torn on who should stay more...Lawson or Ellington. I think Lawson is the better pick right now...but the draft is so point-guard heavy, so Ellington might actually go before him. Ellington has decent athleticism, but he's not athletic enough nor strong enough to be an impact shooting guard at his size.In regards to Lawson...he just really hurt his stock in the tourney...especially that Kansas game.I just really hope Hansbrough leaves. It would be nice to face Carolina and know Tyler wasn't going to get 25 and 12, and also have a good chance of fouling out your center at the same time. At least with Ellington and Lawson, there was a chance that they might not have a great game.
4/18/2008 2:34:28 PM
it seems like they can replace hansbrough with stephensonlawson would be harder to replacei wish our team had this much depth
4/18/2008 2:56:26 PM
4/18/2008 3:02:56 PM
well i think stephenson will fill the shoes better than frasor for lawsonbut whateveri wish them the worst in whatever they do
4/18/2008 3:09:27 PM
When will they have to make a decision by? Is there a final draft entry date?
4/18/2008 3:18:49 PM
the 27th is the deadline
4/18/2008 3:21:53 PM
4/18/2008 3:38:42 PM
4/18/2008 3:50:06 PM
Those who think Ellington is just a spot-up shooter haven't watched him much. He's an incredible shooter, but is damn-near unstoppable in transition. He can get just about any shot he wants in a half-court offense, and is the one player Carolina can consistently count on to score. Losing him would be a much bigger blow than losing Lawson IMO.

4/18/2008 7:57:00 PM
How did Ellington fair against Kansas? didn't he go like 1-9 from 3's and the year before he couldn't hit the shot against Georgetown to go to the final four. Ellington can shoot lights out sometimes, but that is only once every ten games or so.
4/18/2008 10:05:14 PM
he's like a courtney fells who can get to the basket.
4/18/2008 10:13:24 PM
Usually players who are off and on like Ellington have discipline/cockiness problems IRL
4/18/2008 10:15:11 PM
I can see Wayne's potential, being lanky and such a great shooter. If he develops a handle he could be a pretty decent nba guard but I just won't believe there is any demand at all in the nba for a 5'8 guard that can't shoot or defend.

lol, Roy williams remodeled the dean dome
4/19/2008 12:22:08 AM
I was hoping at least 2 of the 4 would be gone last year (Wright, who went, Ellington, Hansbrough, Lawson) but I figured by this time at least 3 of them would be. Now, it seems like they'll have at least 2, if not 3. Either way, 1 of them alone is good enough to beat NC State, fuck, even 1 on 5 probably. Ellington is a baller, I don't care what anybody says, he's nice, and will probably end up being a good player in the NBA too.
4/19/2008 5:06:02 AM
Just further proof that Tyler Hansbrough is a freakin' idiot.

4/21/2008 10:05:46 PM
lawsons entering but not hiring an agent
4/25/2008 11:45:02 AM
lawson and ellington both entering without agents.....douchebaggler vance is coming backhttp://northcarolina.scout.com/2/749667.html[Edited on April 25, 2008 at 3:28 PM. Reason : bah]

Lawson and Ellington will be back. This years draft is stacked at every position. Next year is going to be barren compared to this...Oh and this means two of my "favorite players" will be the Top 2 in ACC scoring history. 1) Hansbrough and 2) Redick... can't we petition to give DT the crown since he would have obliterated it if he could have played freshman year?[Edited on April 25, 2008 at 3:31 PM. Reason : x]
4/25/2008 3:30:11 PM
I respeck him for coming back
4/25/2008 3:59:25 PM
I find myself watching almost every carolina game even though since birth I've been raised with a fire-and-brimstone unwavering hatred of UNCone reason is that they're always on TV, another is hoping i can savor the thrill of watching them lose, and finally, there is always the curiousity and jealousy of scouting a really, really good team that you'd give anything for the Wolfpack to beat twice.that saidI WILL NOT WATCH ANOTHER GAME WITH THIS WIDE EYED FUCKHAT DOUCHEBAG IN IT.I JUST WON'T. I JUST CAN'T.the level of announcer and fan wankery (and maybe even referee wankery) for this jerk is just too much. I hope he breaks his legs and never sees a second of floor time in the NBA.
4/25/2008 4:47:20 PM
ellington will be back, but no way lawson will be back. someone in the late 1st round will give him a guarantee, and he'll go.
4/25/2008 5:30:22 PM
Bobcats trade up to get both of them
4/25/2008 5:41:42 PM
you've got to admire hansbrough's commitment to his schoolone of the best players ever
