Ok. I'm curious how many of you have taken a community college class elsewhere? I'm trying to get my English 2** out of the way, but I'm having a hard time finding a place with online classes that won't be to hard and will transfer. Wake Tech is booked. Any other ideas?

i take it ncsu doesn't have a distance ed course for that requirement?
4/15/2008 11:00:29 AM
I would prefer not to take it dist ed.
4/15/2008 11:25:44 AM

4/15/2008 12:17:13 PM
look at lenoir cc (kinston). i know they have quite a few online classes.
4/15/2008 12:19:30 PM
^^ Well, at least you're honest.
4/15/2008 12:45:52 PM
Nothing to hide. Just trying to protect it.
4/15/2008 1:11:22 PM
which one is English 2? Is that Literature? Take Bateman. If you show up to class, have a great memory and take good notes, You'll get an A. He doesn't require papers, just four tests. It's wonderful if you don't mind doing the above.
4/15/2008 2:13:36 PM
lenoir, wayne, johnston, wilson....the list goes on
4/15/2008 3:07:41 PM
take it over the summer at Wake or Durham Tech. I guarantee summer sessions aren't full yet.
4/15/2008 7:04:00 PM
Surry, Craven...
4/15/2008 7:10:01 PM
Wake Tech Online are, they only have like 2 online summer sessions.
4/15/2008 9:02:09 PM
Ive taken most of my humanities DE through community college, check out Central Piedmont Community College
4/15/2008 9:54:43 PM
4/15/2008 11:07:31 PM
^ok you've stated what is already known.
4/16/2008 7:08:39 AM
I'm taking a 2** English class online through Beaufort Community College this summer. Wake Tech's classes fill up QUICK, and no priority is given to special students. Registration was last week for Beaufort, so you may have missed out. But it couldn't hurt to call and ask.
4/16/2008 2:08:47 PM
i've heard asking the professor to let u in (for wake tech online classes) sometimes they will let u take the class
4/16/2008 9:12:29 PM
I think GTCC (Guilford Tech) offers a bunch of online-based English classes.
4/20/2008 6:04:07 PM
take them online at any community college that offers ithttp://www7.acs.ncsu.edu/uga/images/CCEquiv.pdfthere is the community college equivalency document.........call cpcc or one of the other big community colleges
4/20/2008 6:29:17 PM
To take a class at wake tech is a pain tos ign up for, is it the same for CPCC?
4/21/2008 1:51:19 PM
I went to CPCC for a year-- it was pretty simple to get signed up (online registration) I can still sign up for classes now if I wanted to because once you have your student ID its good for all semesters.
4/21/2008 3:42:57 PM
I'll second CPCC, their online reg & coursework is gravy.
4/21/2008 11:45:40 PM
K i'm just worried I won't get into an online class or they will all fill up.
4/22/2008 8:01:15 AM
Hahah call me dumb but you can take any ENG 200 level class and meet this right? Same with 100 for 1**?
4/23/2008 3:58:01 AM
Is taking 3 summer school classes (8 week session) at CPCC to much?
4/30/2008 4:50:06 AM
I've taken a bunch of classes at Durham Tech (finished my AA degree there last year, in fact). They currently have a ENG 223--Major American Writers class available online. I took one of my required 100-level English classes through distance ed and it wasn't bad at all.

I transfered way back when from community, nice to get all those english and math requirements out of the way (or some of them, especially math, they only went up way back in the day to Pre Cal Trig!). When I transfered I took Accounting 1 and 2 at community, yes, it was easier.Another good thing, once you are at State if you take classes at community, all you need to do is make a C, it transfers as a S anyways.[Edited on May 1, 2008 at 8:10 PM. ^Yup. wish I could say the same about the math classes, but I'm a math major here.
5/1/2008 8:41:16 PM
I've taken classes at CFCC (Cape Fear) before...I'm pretty sure they have an online program.
5/1/2008 8:44:02 PM
For those of you who go to CPCC is there a reason why most of the English's don't fill up but all the other humanities do?
5/4/2008 11:06:29 AM
CPCC rocked

Just finished up my online American Lit class at Beaufort CC. If you can pass high school English, you can ace this course. I would highly recommend it if you want an easy way to take care of your 200 level English requirement here at State.
7/18/2008 11:05:53 AM
you should try Johnston Community College
7/18/2008 12:56:12 PM

I was going to suggest that you just CLEP it, but evidently, NCSU doesn't allow any composition and literature credit. Maybe it's for the best. http://www7.acs.ncsu.edu/uga/CLEP.htmlI did find this, though:ENG243, Major British Writers, Halifax Community College, last day to register: 08/14/2008http://vlc.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/folderresults.asp?pn=22&so=1&sd=ASChttp://www.halifaxcc.edu/Maybe this will help.
7/18/2008 9:55:28 PM
^what?I was just following up to let people know CPCC was a great experience, and Wake Tech wasn't. I don't need any english credit anymore, I got it.[Edited on July 18, 2008 at 10:57 PM. Reason : ]
