This has been going on for the past several weeks. I can't go to sleep at night. At least not at a reasonable hour. I'll stay up until the wee hours of the morning, right now being a prime example, and when I finally do go to sleep it's a huge bitch to wake up for school the next morning. I've tried everything to get on a better schedule, including staying up all night and the next day to be tired enough to go to sleep at a reasonable hour, and even that shit didn't work. Clearly there must be a way of tranquilizing myself without the aid of darts and chemicals. Aid me, TWW!

Maybe seeing a sleep specialist/doctor would help. In the short term... have you ever tried any of those herbal teas or whatever that claim to help you sleep?[Edited on April 15, 2008 at 3:51 AM. Reason : tea]

Just saying, is all. Good luck though.I work 3rd shift, plus own my own business, so my sleep schedule is all jacked up. But I still somehow manage to make it work.

[self-centered blathering]This is a problem I've had my entire life, including childhood. I also require at least nine hours sleep a day and can sleep for twice that (even when I'm not making up a sleep debt). I have such difficulty getting up for the day's responsibilities that I often stay up all night to guarantee that I'll make it to my next day's business. And, like you, even after being up 36, 48 hours, sometimes I still have trouble getting to sleep at a reasonable hour.I don't exercise much. I don't eat well. I drink caffeinated beverages. And I have an anxiety problem that I stopped trying to fix a long time ago. In short, my sleeping difficulties are likely my fault, but that doesn't make it fair. Plenty of Americans lead lives just like mine and get six to nine regular hours of sleep a night. Plus, not being able to sleep properly fucks with my efforts to fix the things that likely hurt my ability to sleep properly. It's a beautiful cycle.[/self-centered blathering]You should try eating better, eliminating caffeine/alcohol/stimulants, exercising more, meditating, etc... If that doesn't work, consult a doctor.[Edited on April 15, 2008 at 4:15 AM. Reason : sss]

semi unrelatedi remember Bridget telling a story about how her family would have maids come by to clean the house, and she would roll up a blunt and lay on the sofa gettin lit watching them clean up

beat then sleep
4/15/2008 4:15:47 AM

i'm a major night owl, too, to the point that it's problematic at times.i find that when i really hammer my legs in the gym, i really, really want to sleep later.swimming does the same thing. core work and running also have this effect to a lesser extent.in short, if all else fails, beat your body into submission. it you tire it out enough, it'll fall asleep readily.

^^^^I must have been exaggerating cause I was always respectful of people who worked in the house.Even of the woman who asked for Kenny G when I offered to put on music for her. She had to settle for Grover Washington. But I swear if we'd had Kenny G, I woulda jammed that shit with nothing but respect.
4/15/2008 4:31:42 AM
Bitch, you used to stay blunted. I know I didn't hear that shit wrong.
4/15/2008 4:35:38 AM
All the time, for sure. But I don't think I ever straight up laid out on the couch and watched people work. Blunt or no blunt. That had to be a joke on me being lazy if I said that.
