As a side note, I need a tailor than can replace the lining in a vintage coat from the 40s....

Try Wang's on the Corner of Gorman & Western. I used them a couple of times a while back. About 5 dollars for a hem.

I always go to Lee's Tailor at Crabtree. They are fast and cheap whenever i go there. Sometimes they are a little rude (Last time i went the woman was on the phone the whole time she was pining me) but if you put that aside, they are the best and the only tailor i've ever been to.

How are Wang's Tailors for the more extensive stuff?

I went to Wang's to get both my Wedding Dress and Maid of Honor's dresses fixed. It was more expensive for the wedding gown, (obviously, the wedding dress had a huge hemline) than it would have been to alter most hems, but that was to be expected. Cost for the alterations on the Maid of Honor's dress was reasonable. Both looked great afterwards, you couldn't even tell they had been altered.

I dropped my coat off at Lee's Tailors today and they gave me an estimate of $30 to fix the entire lining of my coat including the sleeves...I expected it to be like $100 so we'll see how good a job they do for the cost. I'll get back to you, my pick up is on Saturday.

Go to Lee's before Wangs

Jenny Tailor near Cary Towne Center. I've always had good experiences with them. The last time that I needed a suit tailored, they had it ready by close of business the same day that I dropped it off.

My wife got some pants hemmed at Wang's. The hems broke the first time she wore them.
