I want to change the serpentine belt on my 98 crown victoria but the tensioner bolt doesn't want to budge. I've tried a breaker bar but I feel like I'll snap it in half if I push any harder. I'm also afraid of making the square hole into a round hole if I force it too much. Any tips on loosening it? Another dumb question: would I turn it clockwise or counterclockwise? The Hanes book doesn't say, it just says to twist. I'd post the photo of the tensioner I found online but it's no longer there.[Edited on April 14, 2008 at 2:39 PM. i have a tensioner for it if you break it. i have many acctually. if it breaks let me know. are you springing the right way. if you are standing infron of the car you want to turn counter clockwise. good luck

Turns out my ford required a clockwise turn. Got the belt on in less than 10 minutes.
