I'm trying to rebuild my music collection. I like most types of music. Any suggestions?

Smashing PumpkinsQueenRadioheadMuseJimmy Eat Worldthose are some of the bands I really enjoy that i feel are super accessible by anyone when i dont really know their musical tastes.
4/14/2008 11:03:39 AM
Jimmy eat world was terrible live.. i can't really enjoy a band that can't even play their own music in person. Also... check my profile on here or stalkerspace and most of these bands are represented in the playlist i ave posted.
4/14/2008 11:06:15 AM
dang when did you see them? maybe they had an off show. Because I feel the same way about bands (I cant enjoy them if they cant produce live) and they NAILED their set a few weeks ago in Charlotte. One of the better live shows ive seen in awhile as far as sounding spot on. Jimmy hit all the vocals perfect, backing vocals were on. The only thing they didnt nail were the few areas (mainly on older songs) that they have 3 guitar tracks recorded on the record. and 2 guitars live.it also couldnt hurt they had one of the better PA mixes ive heard in recent memory though as well. they were opening for greenday a few years back and i just stopped listening to them back then... maybe they got better though...
4/14/2008 11:15:11 AM
well i personally like their older records better than their newer ones. (although the recent one was a nice surprise). they still play tons of older stuff live from like 4 records ago. i have never seen them live until the Charlotte show, but they really impressed me.
4/14/2008 11:18:20 AM
again ... maybe they're better now or i saw a bad show... but i was slightly pissed afterwards it was also a large venue... i don't usually like those anyway

Opeth.if you don't like opeth you don't have a soul.[Edited on April 14, 2008 at 11:32 AM. Reason : Youtube quality does not do this song justice.]

^^thats the other thing i was going to say. i hardly ever enjoy shows in huge arenas. and im guessing thats where you saw them with green day. in charlotte they played to about 1000 people.[Edited on April 14, 2008 at 11:30 AM. Reason : ]

again,WEEN.just for fun, let's do essential live albums that I'd download (er... buy) immediately if I lost all my musicJoe Cocker - Mad Dogs and EnglishmenRolling Stones - Love You Live...and Get Your Ya Ya's OutLou Reed - Rock n Roll AnimalJimi Hendrix - Band of GypsysThin Lizzy - Live and DangerousAllman Brothers - At Fillmore EastBob Dylan - Rolling Thunder Revue, Royal Albert Hall, and Before the FloodTalking Heads - The Name of this Band is Talking HeadsThe Who - Live at LeedsGrateful Dead - Europe '72... and Ithaca (5/8/77)Neil Young - Live RustPearl Jam - On Two LegsJohnny Cash - Folsom Prison or San QuentinWilco - Kicking TelevisionPhish - Live at Madison Square Garden, New Year's Eve 1995Nirvana - UnpluggedMy Morning Jacket - Okonokosetc....Also, it is funny what happens when you lose all of your music. This happened to me about 9 months or so ago, and I really haven't gotten around to replacing a lot of stuff I once deemed "essential." Like, I have Eat a Peach and At Fillmore East... but have no desire to replace the 8ish albums I had of the Allmans... or, better yet, It took a long time before I finally realized I wanted to listen to Led Zeppelin II again. The most notable of this happening was getting my torrenting hands on the Red Hot Chili Peppers Complete Discography. Got the albums, uploaded em to iTunes, and... well, I thought the band absolutely sucked. Weird.(not trying to start any argument over RHCP or Zep, just.. interesting)[Edited on April 16, 2008 at 2:09 AM. Reason : s]
