Ok so lately i've been watching a bunch of british tv, mainly bbc/channel 4 etc... I wanted to know who else is into it. Here are some of my favorite shows:

-Skins (rediculous show, it pushes so many boundaries that would never be shown on public tv in the US and is simply amazing, plus the sound tracks are amazing, bunch of sigur-ros, dizze rascel, great D&B, and other random shit)
-Little Britain (fucking crazy. some of the best short skits i've ever seen)
-Extras (hilarious and some great guest stars. Stars Ricky Gervais from the UK office)
-UK Office (yeah, hilarious and awkward.)
-Doctor Who (enough said. longest running sci-fi tv series on the planet. Great books too.)

Can i get a count of some fans out there? I know you sheltered wolfwebbers have got to have seen some stuff outside the US. Any takers?

Aside from the random "fuck yous" and "snob who thinks he's better than everyone else cause he watches something other than lost and grey's anatomy" is there anyone out there who's actually seen any of these shows?

I too am a fan of Little Britain, Extras, and Doctor Who (both classic and new series). If you are looking for some quality English programming, I encourage you to look into these shows:

- The Mighty Boosh
- Red Dwarf (my all time favorite tv show ever. Absolutely hilarious)
- Only Fools and Horses (most people in America have never heard of this show but if you go over to the homeland and ask anyone there, they will know it. It is more popular in England than Seinfeld was here)
- Look Around You
- Blackadder

Most of these shows are a little older (mid 90s or so) but I guarantee you will laugh your ass off on all of them. btw, since Doctor Who airs in England a few months before it is aired here in America, you can usually download the episode way ahead of time. Season 4 episode 2 just aired today and is already available online.

^^^sweet thanks for the tips. I'll defin check out those shows. And yeah doctor who is great because it airs first in the UK and is put online before it airs over here. I can never find anyone who's actually read some of the books.

^^skins is great. Did you see the last couple episodes in season 2? Incredibly well written. I love how they write each characters talents into the show. That episode "effy" was just great. Where she creates her psychological painting by helping out everyone in the episode. That show seriously makes a point to address so much shit that happens to people and it really touches you.

^yeah peep show is british, airs on Channel 4. I've seen a couple episodes. On my list of shows to watch.

Ah yes, Top Gear, I forgot to mention that. I'm not even much of a car person, but this show is extremely entertaining and the hosts are pretty funny. Here is one of my favorite clips:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rq-kK7GEb7M

"We must not be shot or arrested as we drive across the proud state of Alabama. But we will get bonus points if we get one of the others shot or arrested. You will therefore decorate one another's cars in such a way to draw maximum attention to yourself in this bible bashing redneck deeply Christian part of the Union"

second those, especially "only fools and horses" - QUALITY humor

Also love Fawlty Towers, and I still keep up with Eastenders online (yeah, now who's the dork?)

If you like Ricky Gervais, check out his podcasts, they've had me LOL'ing at work - then trying to explain, yeah, doesn't work so well

Top Gear is FABULOUS - I think I spent all of new years day in 2006 recovering on my friend's sofa watching that show with like 5 other people, I'm so glad they show it over here now!!

Black Books (I think that's the name) is also good, very funny

God, I love me some Doctor Who!! Four more days until the new season on Sci-Fi!!

</swoon>

I've been told a lot about Blackadder, I might see if I can get some copies, especially since I've heard Hugh Laurie is in it.

And I've just finished watch season 1 of The Office. I think I'll start season 2 this week.
"You grow up, you work half a century, you get a golden handshake, you rest a couple of years and you're dead. And the only thing that makes that crazy ride worthwhile is 'Did I enjoy it? What did I learn? What was the point?' That's where I come in. You've seen how I react to people, make them feel good, make them think that anything's possible. If I make them laugh along the way, sue me. And I don't do it so they turn round and go 'Thankyou David for the opportunity, thankyou for the wisdom, thankyou for the laughs.' I do it so, one day, someone will go 'There goes David Brent. I must remember to thank him.' "

My god that show has been on for so long. I remember my mum used to watch that all the time when I was a baby. Neighbors is one that has been on forever too.

I just watched the second episode of the season of Doctor Who and I gotta say Donna Noble isn't really as fun of a companion as Rose or Martha. She's pretty annoying. I'm sure she'll get better. The actual episodes are just as awesome as ever though. Let me know if you want the first two episodes of the season, I enjoyed them.

And on the topic of Blackadder, yes, Hugh Laurie is in it. Most people think of him as being in a smartass intelligent role (due to House) but he plays a completely bumbling fool in Blackadder. It also stars Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean for those of you that don't recognize the name) but his role is pretty much the polar opposite of Mr. Bean when it comes to the type of humor he portrays... classic English dry/sarcastic wit. The actual set up of each season is quite unique too... each season is from a different period of time in history.

Life on Mars was wonderful. They didn't cancel it due to bad ratings or anything. They just decided to let it go while it was still on top instead of beating it to death for 4-5 seasons. Unfortunately, "Ashes to Ashes" is simply "Life on Mars" with a female lead, set in the 80s.
