depends on the quality of the fish, of course... some fish is not free of micro-organism even while it's fresh, but it depends on what your stomach is used to.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 12:27 PM. Reason : ]

the only thing you have to worry about is allergies and food born illness. Other than that it is one the healthiest things for a person to eat.
4/11/2008 12:30:28 PM
A lot of it is not healthy at all. California rolls can be an example. I'll try to find some evidence to back that statement up, but a lot of it is pretty high in calories.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 12:36 PM. Reason : l]

4/11/2008 12:37:41 PM
not if you have a shitload of carb-laden rice with it like most people dosize 14 fat ass girls all like "Oh, Becky, lets eat healthy !" so they get thin strips of fish on top of huge mounds of white rice
4/11/2008 12:37:49 PM
well if rice is not healthy then... let's all eat grass so at least we dno't have to mow the lawn any more
4/11/2008 12:38:49 PM
Even without the rice, eating two or three full rolls can be really bad. Here, read this: http://www.fitsugar.com/314740Look at the tempura (fried) stuff.Unfortunately, that's what most people eat when they go out for sushi; so it is very relevant.
4/11/2008 12:39:07 PM
^^^^ he made absolutely no mention of raw fish. he said they weren't healthy.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 12:39 PM. Reason : ^]

chinese people eat tons of rice (in south) and steamed bread (in north) and let's compare the over-weight status lol
4/11/2008 12:42:13 PM
^^I was gonna say thatI think true sushi is, but a lot of people forget they get all these sauces (eel sauce, spicy mayo, wassabi sauce, etc) and that is what truely makes sushi not that good for you.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 12:45 PM. Reason : ^]

4/11/2008 12:55:29 PM
I know you can get sushi with brown rice at Harris Teeter...also, what's fatty about wasabi and soy?
4/11/2008 12:56:10 PM
I wish I could go for lunch. Costs me $60 every time we go for dinner. Granted, that's only on rare occasions and I'm usually picking up a few drinks and appetizers. Two could probably eat for $35 if it was just dinner.[Edited on April 11, 2008 at 12:58 PM. Reason : s]

I try to switch it up when I go for lunch...Sometimes I will get the yummy fried rice and a couple pieces of sushi, or just do all sushi.
4/11/2008 1:04:49 PM
I like to make my own sushi but all I can get around raleigh for sashimi grade is tuna. I heard if I freeze salmon for 7 days it'll be sashimi grade, but then I read that the temperature to freeze must be really really low to kill the bacteria. it sucks
4/11/2008 1:06:29 PM
i always just get the roll with JUST tuna or JUST salmon... california rolls have avocado and shit too, i don't like that
4/11/2008 1:08:22 PM

I make it at home. More fish, less rice. Very good, very cheap, and good for you. Nori is good for you too. I love to cook chicken with furikake and teriyaki.
4/11/2008 2:11:34 PM
4/11/2008 2:14:28 PM
tuna/avacado brown rice roll
4/11/2008 2:15:11 PM
sushi also means sticky rice and not necessarily raw fish so I guess it could get really fatty depending on what you put in it and how you cook it.
4/11/2008 2:15:30 PM
@ seafood of any type
4/11/2008 4:48:28 PM
i quit eating sushi after my friend found a very long tapeworm in someone that someone eats sushi several times a week from that place at briar creek
4/11/2008 4:50:13 PM
wtf is a tapeworm???

4/11/2008 5:23:56 PM
The fish quality has to be really good and don't get the stuff with the crap in it, for example, the mayonnaise and what not.
4/11/2008 5:27:41 PM
here are some of the possible ingredients and their healthiness level:[note, i am talking about nutrition here, not hygiene... so if fish is contaminated, that's another issue]fish (and other seafood): very healthy. healthiest would be salmon.rice: the sticky white kind, NO.land and sea vegetables: very healthy (avocado, seaweed, carrot, onion, etc)fatty, sticky sauces: NOso, the moral of the story is: eat sashimi.
4/11/2008 5:37:25 PM
Meh, I'd say rice is pretty neutral. Not the most healthful food out there, of course, but provides energy and a little protein. It's a staple.
