I wanted to know if you all have an idea as to what is wrong with my car. (automatic)Basically, it drives fine for the most part. However if I am in it for a long time, get on the highway, I'm guessing let it get up to temperature, the problems start. After I have been driving for a while when I come to a stop light, or stop in general, the car will sputter real bad and cut off. I can put it in park and start it after that. If I put it in drive it shuts back off. So to get going I have to put it in neutral, rev the engine, and then quickly shift to drive. It will sputter at first on the take off but then get going. Once I am up to speed it it fine again. The same thing will happen as soon as I stop. The weird thing is I can drive short distances. Such as from my place to campus. Any idea if this is a fuel problem, transmission problem, carbs? I just had a tune up and it did not fix anything. Thanks for the help.

isn't this an issue with a sensor on automatics? I seem to remember a thread exactly like this before.

old Cavalier. 91'. Yeah I know, get a new car. I was thinking it's a temperature issue. Maybe a new thermostat.

Symptoms sound similar to when I had a cylinder misfire due to a coil pack going bad.
