Friend of mine went to planet fitness, put his keys on the board thing and went to leave and his keys were gone...he thought he locked them in the car, went out to check his car and it was gone...he immediately called his credit card company to cancel his credit card that was left in the car and it had already been used...damnjust wondering what would happen in this situation...cuz I would totally be like "wtf do I do now?!?!?" haha...like the commercials...lol

Lemme guess, this was on the one at western/jones franklin. Shady as hell after dark.If he put the keys on the board, there's a 99% chance some motherfucker (read: member) in there saw your friend, his car, and where he put his keys. Hell it may have even been someone 'waiting for a friend' to leave and just sitting near that front desk when its just some guy from up the street. I'd put money on it being a member but as to how you'd find out just who it is you're up shit creek.[Edited on April 9, 2008 at 11:17 PM. Reason : aewjljfflajfkldf WHEEEEEEe]

1st stepcall the police2nd step, review security camera

Dude...I was just saying how I'd never put my keys on that board the other day. That's crazy. For those that aren't members, there are usually at least 20 sets of keys hanging there. At first I'd think it was probably a member, but I think the more likely scenario is that someone hanging out on the sidewalk just watched until the people at the front desk stepped away. You can see in really easily, but it's hard to see out. Since the board is right by the door they probably just grabbed a set of keys that had a remote on it and walked around looking for the car with flashing lights.I would hope they have a security camera covering the front desk and front door. That should settle whether or not it was a member. If it was a member then it should be as easy as looking to see who it was when they signed in.What kind of car is it?[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 12:21 AM. Reason : l]

^ haha exactly what I was thinking^^ 2004 Acura TL I think...not too sureI wasn't wondering what to do about it now, I was just wondering what the insurance company would do about this in the long run... I mean...this kinda is what you pay insurance for right? correct me if I'm wrong...I was also thinking about the fact that there wasn't any breaking and entering, they just used the keys...so I'm not sure how insurance would deal with it...considering it's like he just left the keys somewhere...and the board you hang the keys on says "not responsible for lost or stolen keys" hahaone more thing...no security camera at all... I never leave my keys on the board at the gym. I always leave them in my pocket. or at my feet.

In highschool this tool i know drove a 350Z that daddy bought him; then one day while he was in gym class someone broke into his locker, grabbed his keys, and stole his car. They found it two days later completly gutted. Not sure if they caught the guy but it had to have been someone that knew the kid because they knew where is locker was and what car was his.
4/11/2008 12:44:39 PM
Is this considered a theft since he left his keys on a board? I dont think I would admit that to the insurance company.
4/11/2008 1:09:24 PM
4/11/2008 1:29:57 PM
it was already filed by the police...they came to the gym and wrote everything up...I'm not sure, but I think you have to turn that kinda shit in to the insurance company

4/11/2008 2:19:13 PM
You retards hang your car keys on a board on the wall?
4/11/2008 4:12:59 PM
shouldn't the gym board be manned? or something? If shit like this happened, I think that gym would loose business due it's lack of security.
4/11/2008 4:58:10 PM
Gym that I used to go to that had a key board had it directly across from the front desk, where there was always supposed to be a staff member. However, as has been alluded to, would be easy to have guy #1 distract the staff member while guy #2 grabbed the keys all nonchalant-like. Or, if it was a member, nothing wrong with grabbing some keys. Front desker wouldn't notice if you grabbed a set that wasn't yours, 99 times outta 100.

put his keys on a board. are you a dummy. never let your keys oput of your site hommie
4/11/2008 10:28:00 PM
yeah, really. that's almost as bad as getting your r1 stolen from walmart, the busiest parking lot in town. your curb hitting tree ramming drinking a 2 gallon jug of milk d.u.i. ass is the very LAST person on this board that needs to be calling anyone dumb.
4/12/2008 2:00:31 AM
^my thoughts exactly
4/12/2008 2:32:38 AM
I mean...I guess I'm kinda too trusting in the good nature of people to think twice about putting my keys on a board at the gym...I mean, who steals a car these days?? really? I thought that just happened in video games and movies! *<--probably going to hate that statement*It's not like no one puts their keys on the board, I mean, I think even the guy that drives the brand new M5 up to the gym puts his keys on the board...cuz I had a devil on one shoulder convincing me to try to take his keys if only for a joy ride while and angel was on my other shoulder convincing me to ignore them...but yeah...the board is directly in front of the desk, and I really don't think anyone would be like "those aren't YOUR keys...are they?"
4/12/2008 1:07:30 PM

4/12/2008 3:09:15 PM
id definitely get a locker at this place and put my keys and shit in the locker
4/12/2008 3:09:32 PM
your friend should try to get something out of the gym for this bs. I'm not saying a new car, but you should threaten to petition them and tell everyone entering what happened, and just make the gym company look bad. use your 1st amendment rights, in a perfectly legal way. if the employees at the counter have any sense, they'll get a manager, who'll probably get a corporate guy, and then you get free shit.
4/12/2008 4:29:37 PM
Ok how is it the Gym's fault that some fucker came in there and stole his keys.... I mean common sense would say that the board is not secured and just anyone can take the keys down off it. I mean the Gym probably just puts it up there as a courtesy its not their fault if you get screwed by using it. I bet everyone would be bitching too if they had a bunch of lockers that cost money to use and no where to hang keys.
4/12/2008 8:54:03 PM
but you would expect the gym to keep an eye out. legally, they can claim no responsibility, but ethically, that doesn't fly with customers.

get one of those cars with the electronic keypad lock and lock your shit in your car. That's what I did when I had my Nissan Quest in high school. Always locked my keys in the car when out running.

Those keypads always seemed like a bad idea to me.Too easy for someone to see what numbers you punch in if you use it at the places you frequent. Also, it's a Ford/Nissan/Mercedes product so it's bound to leave you locked out of your own car one day.I mean, I guess it would be nice to know it's there if you lock your keys in the car by accident all the time though.[Edited on April 14, 2008 at 2:44 PM. really? It's not on the newer nissans? I thought that was a great idea.^thats why you cover up with one of your hands.
4/14/2008 4:09:01 PM
I do think Planet Fitness should move the key board away from its current location which is like 6 inches from the door. Anyone can reach in and grab a set of keys. They should be like gold's and have the board next to the check-in desk.
