lets play a game?

guess what the red X is.

or maybe its the red X that hides at camping sites and leaves painful bites.

there's actually a small market for those girls. i may have to start going out to "help" when people ask me to save them from the spiders.

they were behind my homegirls stove
she found some old cookie sheets pushed back behind the lower drawer and pulled it out and found the female....

she then freaked out and woke me up and made me come over w/ spray. we spayed the shit out of the underside of the oven and then pulled it out from the wall

then 3 small baby black widows came out and we killed them

found the big ole male black in one of the cookie sheets with 3 egg sacks

yes they do!! i don't LOVE spiders at all. but i don't kill them either unless they are inside, but even then i try to take them outside. they eat yucky bugs like mosquitos and other pests. how do you see black widows so often anyway are you like out in the woods climbing trees a lot? thats the only place i've ever seen one.

I've never even heard of a Black Widow living up in trees

I thought they always stayed on the ground, in dark, moist areas [no sexual reference]

yeah black widows only attack when disturbed. until now ive always worked on golf courses, and when id run irrigation programs id find them in the boxes all the time. never in trees, but in places that are dark and generally untouched (no homo)

luckily they're nice when they bite.

Adult males are harmless to humans, about half the female's size, with smaller bodies, and longer legs and usually have yellow and red bands and spots over the back as do the immature stages.

hmm...tell that to people who might have heart attacks just seeing one

i caught one of these last week... it was in my HOUSE. her body is the size of my middle fingernail, and i think she's big. yes, it's scary as crap, but i think it's really cool. i've got her in a jar, and she's built a web. next i'm going to try and catch a fly or something to put in there.

spiders aren't bugs

and they make decent pets -- a friend of mine has one

one time I had a black widow from my yard in a perforated jar for a few weeks

in all, I fed it about a dozen flies, and a half dozen of those little brass beetles

I would let it out to climb on my arm (they're not usually aggressive if not threatened)

I'd also scoop up grasshoppers from my backyard to feed the orb spiders by my compost pen

I don't kill spiders
