^^^i'll bet you bought the direct fit. they charge $texas extra just to get plug/play. universal will save you some money if you're capable/willing to splice the wires.

^^pb blaster and let it sit overnight if it's a bad sensor. make sure if or when you put heat to it do it hard and fast just long enough to get the bung hot. if you leave it on there too long or dick around trying to get it out you've defeated the purpose. i'm sure you know as well as i do the very basics of heat transfer and expansion.

^yep, mapp is the ticket for quicker and more intense heating. beats the hell out of straight propane. it's all i use for non electrical soldering/brazing.

edit: actually that's not true, i've been known to torch a derby car battery relocation cable or two together with mapp and a roll of acid core.

How do you stick a universal in?

Well, I got it in. The only problem I ran into was the sensor was a little bigger than the protective plate. I had to grind some of the plate off to clear the sensor.
My check engine light hasn't come back on.

It was still expensive as hell...

you have to splice the wires to the bad o2's harness or directly into the wiring on the vehicle side. they're usually a good $25 or more cheaper, but if you don't have the tools or knowledge to do that you're just as well off with the one that has a plug.

Screw PB blaster, go to a GM dealer parts dept and get a can of "heat valve" best damn penetrating lube there is. I have seen it free up stuff I swore was welded

What about the flange?
The factory one has a flange, universal don't.

I went through 4 o2 sensors on my 00 Tundra, the last 2 were seized to the manifold. I sprayed it twice a day with pb blaster for a week and it didn't do shit, Toyota had to put new manifolds and sensors in under warranty and I haven't had a problem since.

yeah...they replaced a lot of sensors and manifolds under that warrenty, but it only covers the upstream sensors, not the one I had to replace.

On cold days I hear a ticking sound.
Might be a cracked manifold...but I just don't worry about it.

I got the truck used about 2 years ago.

^^The dealer wanted $150 for diagnosing the problem + replacing the part. yeah right, because it costs $110 to hook up a computer.
They wanted $40 for replacing the part without confirming that was the problem.
Also, they wanted $140 for the sensor, plus $8 for the gasket.
Napa had the sensor with gasket for $114.

I'm pretty sure their problems with the stuck sensors were from the factory, not with parts they put in.

some models don't have a universal option for all locations, could have been the case.

people, $100 for a quality replacement isn't that bad. come back when you're buying multiples of the heated ones that are $200-300 etc.

Toyota extended the warranty to 90,000, I had 89,000 when I got the letter.

The cold day tick is the valve spring shims, or at least that is what I was told. Apparently the Tundra head has shims to adjust clearance instead of the normal adjusters and for some reason they tick on cold days until the oil reaches them. I really dont care if thats the reason for the tick or not, mine has done it since it was new and I now have 115,000 miles. Bad front brakes, hard shifting into 2nd, driveshaft bumps when your at a stop light, 10.5 mpg's, and the 02 problems are all a nigga know these days.
