This is an ad for my good friend who goes to State and is a pretty sick drummer. Send a PM if you're interested and I can get you his number.

Summary: I can pretty well play anything, but am more or less looking for a death metal/grindcore band.

---------------------------

I am a pretty well established drummer who was originally based in the Havelock/New Bern area. I have been traveling between there and Raleigh to do shows and practice with the bands that I have been in. I can pretty well play anything, but am more or less looking for a death metal/grindcore band.

The bands that I've been in include:

1) NC State Jazz "B" band (2005) - I was beat out by the guy who beat me for the "A" band in the "All-State High School Jazz Bands"

2) Hands of Rue (1999-2005) - Progressive Black Metal (Influences: Iced Earth, Dream Theater, Cradle of Filth)

3) Failed Seance (2005-2008) - Progressive Grindcore aka "Prog-Grind" (Influences: Pig Destroyer, Nasum, T.O.O.H., Cattle Decapitation, Cephalic Carnage, etc.)

4) Grotesque Butchery (2008-present: currently on hold due to bassist being at boot camp and guitarist touring with Atrocious Abnormality) - Death Metal (Influences: Nothing but Death Metal)

5) Novgorod (2008-present) - Black Metal (Influences: Nothing but Black Metal)

6) Infensus Inferi (2008-present) - Technical Death Metal (Influences: Nothing but Technical Death Metal)

I just need someone to play with and jam with and do some shows with, too. I am living in Charlotte right now, working at US Airways for the semester, and am sitting in with Novgorod and Infensus Inferi (both have myspaces) until I go back to Raleigh in July. If you'd like to hear some
recorded work I've done then please go to the following pages:

http://www.myspace.com/failedseancecore (recorded Jan. 2007 - obviously skill has increased since then)
http://www.myspace.com/grotesquebutchery (recorded Sept. 2004 - obviously skill has increased since then)

The above links were the original bands that I was in until we were forced to part ways due to deployments and life in general. All of us are still close in the sense that we did not break up on bad terms, we were just simply forced to shelve the projects.

If you are interested, I wouldn't mind showing up for an interview/audition between now and whenever I move back to Raleigh. Just know that on top of being a drummmer for various metal projects, I am also an Aerospace Engineering student who will more than likely be working on top of finishing out my degree. I still would very much like to find the time to jam out and do some shows. Making money doesn't really concern me. I just love challenging myself and meeting new people and playing my kit.

Please call me if you'd like to talk to me, my name is Aaron:

^Right now he's in Charlotte on co-op rotation, so he's looking for a band to play in once he gets back to Raleigh in July...after that he'll be back in Raleigh for good.

well yeah... i'd be interested in starting a new band ~progressive~ death metal. Judging by the bands he's in probably not his style. I'm not in a 'real' band now so if he doesn't want to start from scratch not worth the bother.

yeah, i don't really know his taste that well beyond 'metal'. he likes playing hard and fast, so based on your music it might be a bit slow but who knows. he just really wants to play and have a group in raleigh so i'm sure he wouldn't mind branching out...i can get you guys in touch with each other and you can like, cyber or something.

he likes writing music too and has started 2 bands that have original music (Hands of Rue, Failed Seance), so he's no stranger to new bands. He might be down here this weekend, so you guys could hook up.

it sounds like he's just hitting the DB pedal as fast as he can and doesn't care if the notes sync up or not. :p but he's pretty good for an amateur metal drummer.

I'm just guessing here, haha. You're song '21' sounds like some of his stuff. I talked with him earlier and he liked the music you had on there.

So I'm guessing all it takes to be a Metal Drummer is to get drunk and go nuts on some double bass drum shit

the band i'm in now needs a bass guitarist and drummer, but its not so much death metal....

i want to be in a band somewhere between Opeth, Necrophagist and Wintersun. if you've ever heard of them. And i know a vocalist who can scream, growl ,vomit, and sing well.

PM sent

Also walls, I do death and guttural vocals as well as high-end black metal screams and rasps, and could probably do bass and vocals for your band. If you want to get together sometime, hit me up.

My current band MOROSE VITALITY: http://www.myspace.com/morosevitalityband . Those recordings are from a drunken live show so the quality and performance aren't exactly representative of our sound, but you'll get an idea.

okay scratch that if you don't want death/black vocals, but there it is anyway if you're interested

Also, ThePeter, I forgot to give you the address for my band's myspace, if you could pass that along to him I'd appreciate it

my two favorite vocalists. i don't really care about vocals as much as the quality of music.
only vocals i don't like are whiny screamo vocals.

do those guys cough up blood after singing like that? it sounds like there is a lot of straining going on to get out the growl, especially for an entire show.

Yeah, Akerfeldt is one of the most skilled vocalists I've ever heard. He can sing well, and his growl is disgusting. I'm past my blind obsession with Opeth, but they're still one of the most incredible bands on the planet. It used to be a tossup between him and Peter Tagtgren (of Hypocrisy, Bloodbath, et al.), but I think Akerfeldt will always be my favorite.

^Like anything it takes some getting used to, a lot of gagging and choking is involved at first, but once you learn to do it correctly and frequently practice like anything else, it's not that bad at all. I'm used to doing growls for four hours at practice, so a 45 minute show isn't really an issue. I still can't transition between growling and singing like Akerfeldt though, it does put enough strain on my throat to kindof put a bit of puberty on my singing voice

If this was more like Mercyful Fate, Manowar, Life Of Agony, At The Gates, In Flames, Faith No More, etc I'd be interested.

Pretty sure that I don't randomly play double bass and hope it syncs up. I got sloppy because that recording was right after I had just learned how to do a double bass roll. NEWBZ. BTW, I'm the drummer to which this ad refers to. Thanks, Peter, for posting it up for me.

^your vocals are amazing yo
truly top notch \m/

@The OP:
Failed Seance - the guitar players are way beyond you skillwise, but you did pretty well keeping up. you remind me of decapitated the way you drum, which is a good thing.

Grotesque Butchery - you did much better with these guys, even tho it's from earlier...maybe you had better monitoring or something, I dunno.

Take a listen to the guitar work here, especially slice n dice, rook takes queen, the new year, and riffing well.

Now playing: Extra Strength

If you wanna jam some on an informal basis, I'm down. I may or may not write the best songs in the world, but I'll be damned if I'm not a hot shit player.

thanks man, appreciate that

it's sad that I'm a musician at heart but what I ended up being truly good at was vocals

oh well, I'm getting to the point on bass where I think I can keep up with most metal, not technical mind you, so that and vocals would be ideal. Immolation, Slayer, etc. style

^^^^^^^Thanks for the comments, I suppose. Not that I'm into making excuses, but we recorded that after I had been with FS for like a month or so. It was a big change of style for me and the fact that I didn't and still don't use triggers means that I have to power through a lot of stuff. The double bass wasn't as demanding in GB as FS which is why I sounded like I was struggling. If we had recorded this past January, which we were thinking about re-recording and putting some new stuff up this summer (until Mike (guitarist) got deployed), it probably would have sounded a lot better and been a lot more cleaner and impressive. I do appreciate the comment about decapitated, though. Thanks.

Any opinions on Brain Drill?!?!?!?! Also, if I'm to Jam with the T-Dub Face Smashers, we need to find a place to practice. My drumset is pretty huge and I have an apt.

i'm not huge on Grindcore. I like that music in a more Necrophagist/Blotted Science direction (probably because i'm a guitarist).

the closest i've gotten is older AtG (grotesque?) and Carcass (if that even counts)...

any of you scrubs like Behold the Arctopus or Mike lerner's solo project Direwolf?
