I've got laying around, a decent set of wheels off a Scion tc, but they are bent (i.e. off round). Owner hit a nasty pot hole. I've called around to a few shady places, but I'm not sure if I can trust them. Also needs to be under $90. Because anything over that and I might as well just buy new ones. I do need it done soon though for an upcoming auto-x.Places I've called: - Downtown Collision (quoted me $75)- Capital Custom Wheel (quoted me between $50 - $150)

you just need to buy new ones dude
4/1/2008 12:25:35 AM
^ That's what I'm thinking. I guess if they were really expensive fancy ones, I'd fix them. But, I guess stockers just aren't worth fixing.
4/1/2008 12:01:22 PM
i can refer you to a good shop in Pensacola, FL. They fixed one of my Fikse wheels on my S2000 (i ran over one of those little upside-down salad bowl looking things that rattle your car if you change lanes where you aren't supposed to, and it bent my wheel). It was more than $90, though.I can't imagine that stock Scion wheels are worth fixing, though.[Edited on April 1, 2008 at 12:24 PM. I went on scion forums today and purchased two (2) used ones. Cheaper than getting the bent ones fixed. No, they aren't perfect, but much better than bent ones.

dam, if i would have seen this earlier, i could have probably sold you a set for a decent price.we've got tons of tC rims at my old work.
4/1/2008 5:43:46 PM
hmmlemme guess.you're gonna have to drill out your hubs about 2mm. its gonna cost you about $100 or soyou could have gotten wrx rims, but they were $$, these were free?

hubcap heaven behind the strip joint in downtown cary.that place is also the place for alignments

weird... what happened to the other 10 posts on this thread? All questions and flames were answered in those posts ... became stupid, found a shop, lost some money, gained some knowledge, became less stupid... hopefully [/thread] [Edited on April 4, 2008 at 10:29 PM. Reason : ]

you can always hit up the toyota dealer and pay a lot.
4/10/2008 11:40:03 AM
^ The problem is, they might not carry 12x1.25 thread pitch. Because all their cars use lugs with 12x1.5 threads....After some research, I think they are called mag shank nuts?[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 11:54 AM. Reason : ?]

Any local places? I think I'm going to ask the Just Tires and Discount Tire shops to see if they sell any within my specs...Height ~ 1.47"Wrench size ~ 13/16Shank ~ .50"Shank Diameter ~ .73 (.6 should work though)
4/10/2008 12:02:06 PM
this kind wont work?
4/10/2008 12:11:01 PM
the prob. is that the lug surface is flat.so the acorn style ones wont work (and he mentioned the stud doesnt go out that far)he needs something that goes into that second indention.
4/10/2008 12:26:12 PM
Advance or Auto Zone has them. Gonna have to go behind the counter and figure out the one that work for you.
4/10/2008 1:30:47 PM
^^^ I wished it did. Would save me a bunch of money on lug nuts. It has to be a mag lug with a shank to work.Called Discount Tire, they didn't have any that had the "shank" style washer. Supposedly, without the washer the lugs will get loose and fall off... don't want that happening I'll try and stop by Autozone with my wheels after work. Thanks guys.[Edited on April 10, 2008 at 1:41 PM. Reason : the drama continues]

I did it... Please laugh at your leisure COSTWheels$0 for free Scion tC wheels ( 17x7" @ +45mm offset )$100 to bore out wheels 1mm all around by machine shop (from 54.1mm to 56.1mm)$35 for mag shank lugs from Pep Boys (12x1.25mm thread pitch, these were PITA hard to find)$10 for extra washers (Stock shank length is slightly shorter than aftermarket mag lugs, so have to compensate with an extra washer. Not sure how safe this is, but I figured if the stock lugs had washers, then another washer is not going to kill me. I drove it fairly aggressively this morning, and checked my lugs. They are on tight still. I'll just have to check them often. If you see a news story about a guy in a WRX dying in a wreck, then it might be me . Pray for me.)Total for wheels: $145Tires$420 for Falken Azenis RT-615 @ 225/45/17 (Auto-x Ready baby! )$80 to mount/balance tiresTotal for tires: $500Total Overall: $645First ImpressionsNot bad. Not bad at all. Yes, you can call me Mr. El Cheap-o. Of course, if you have the money, I recommend wheels that are actually meant for your car. Haha! But, since these are going to be mainly cheap auto-x wheels, I figure I struck gold.Took it up to 85MPH this morning on highway. No serious vibrations at this point. Slight noise from my front right fender but, I've been getting that noise anyways... (see my other threads from the past few days). So, I'm not going to blame that on the wheels just yet. Are RT615's known for slightly louder road noise? These are my first pair.I'll update you guys a few months from now. If I shred my wheel bearings and the wheels goes flying into someone's living room, I'll let you know.PicturesBored/honed out wheel by Hesson machine shop off of 401. They did a good job.On hub. Almost perfect match. On hub, further away.Rear wheel, no rubbing.Front wheel, no rubbing. Haven't run it hard yet. Still trying to get used to them.Whole car. Not bad. actually i think those wheels look rather good on your car.i wouldn't mind having them on mine.

looks nice mang

Yeah those wheels look good, dont beat yourself up .Where did you order the tires from? I need new tires on every car I own
4/12/2008 12:22:05 PM
^ discounttiredirect.com (promotion ended last month though)I'm pretty happy with the wheels. Went autocrossing today, it was a blast. Wheels aren't super light, but for cheap, they are unbeatable. No lug nuts fell off, so I'd say my washer method works fine. The Azenis RT-615's are incredible. I wouldn't recommend them on a daily driver, but best tires I've ever had as far as auto-x goes. Probably bettered my times by over 5 seconds. Not even an exaggeration.

Bump.I've got a bent wheel. Has anyone tried Downtown Collision or Capital Custom Wheel? $75 seems to be the going rate from the places I've talked to. Any other suggestions for places to take it?

I might give Downtown Collision a try first since it is closer. Capital Custom Wheel looks like mostly wheel sales from their website. Anyone have any other places worth trying?
6/3/2008 6:21:40 PM
I took my wheel to Downtown Collision today. Very nice people and they finished the wheel in a little over an hour. $75 to straighten and around $25 more to clean up some curb rash. I gave Capital Custom Wheel a call first, but they send the wheel to an off site machine shop and it takes about a day to get it back.
