3/29/2008 7:48:24 PM
rattle can that bitch and beat the living fuckin hell out of it!
3/29/2008 7:49:27 PM
haha. right now it's getting rebuilt to stock factory specs as these engines can hold quite a bit of abuse stock. throwing the stock turbo back on, driving it.and sourcing parts for a 16g or 20g turbo with all of the supporting mods.

3/29/2008 10:07:41 PM
give me a month it'll be running, but only on the 14b till all the stuff is sourced.
3/29/2008 10:40:13 PM
who is building the motorRR?
3/29/2008 10:46:40 PM
my friend
3/29/2008 10:58:03 PM
14b will give you plenty of fun for a while. don't skimp on fasteners and a quality head gasket while you're building. go ahead and put a good clutch/pp in it too while you're at it. i prefer act's 2600. lot of people like the spec also. if you care to dig into the transmission internals, there are some little tweaks here and there that can be done cheaply to help reliability. going back with equal lenght shafts from an awd is a huge help also, the stockers torque steer like a BITCH when the boost hits.i loved my 91, one of the best sleepers evAr. lemme know if you have any questions. it was in the mid-low 13's with no traction, a mean lsx/4v killin bastard from a roll, and had jack shit for $$ in it. i came SO close to picking up a fully built awd gsx a few months ago, but got the c5 instead since it was auto.
3/29/2008 11:35:53 PM
hehe yeah. here's the rebuild kit i just ordered for it.http://www.slowboyracing.com/estore/product.php?productid=1088&cat=47&page=1the 14b will only be on for 2 weeks or so, break it in with that then throw a bigger turbo on there.right now the clutch on the car is new and has 0 miles. it's a stock clutch. but i cant justify shelling out 400 dollars now for a good good clutch while i can just see how long this one will last. here's what we're doing for fuel management after we get injectors and a bigger fuel pumpand of course the balance shaft eliminator kit.

yeah, definitely get that 255 pump on there. the stocker has trouble keeping up with anything much past stock boost settings. get a good power wire going to it also to feed it a solid 12-14v, the stock harness is notorious for dropping voltage to 10v or even less. i did mine with 10 guage on a walbro 255. i'm guessing you're going with the evo 3 (big) 16g? the td05 (small) 16g is only worth messing with on the 2g t25 cars, it's not enough of an upgrade over the 14b in my opinion.^^very respectably, actually. i had h&r springs, kyb adjustables, manual rack, and some other minor weight reductions on my fwd. crappy 205 kumho street tires. it handled better than any fwd car should, i dare say as well as the majority of stock modern rwd sports cars. traction out of turns was a bit of an issue still being open in the front, but no worse than an open differential rwd. it'd lift the passenger rear a good 6" under heavy entry and oversteer easily depending on the strut/shock settings. the best thing about it was the feel though. like an oversize go kart.the awd's wallow around noticeably more due to increased weight and height in stock form and are less than impressive, but can be improved tenfold with basic bolt ons. for an ultimate "g machine" there are certainly better platforms, but it's a solid and hard to beat all around package.[Edited on April 1, 2008 at 12:08 AM. yep, it's the bigger one.all those parts i have listed. i have already bought.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=300211884762&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=020my friend knows all a/b these things, he's the shit. he's doing the rewire for the fuel pump as well. thanks for the helpful hints i def. appreciate it [Edited on April 1, 2008 at 12:03 AM. ^^ yeah, i test drove a pretty hot (prob mid 12-second) 1G Eclipse GSX one time with suspension work, and a stock AWD Laser another time. It's been a long time ago, though, and I didn't really get to drive them in anger (at least in terms of ripping corners).my bigger concern is my current frame of reference. after the string of cars i've owned over the last few years, some respectable cars feel like pigs now.
4/1/2008 11:13:55 AM
mid 12's are pretty common for gsx's, with a lil work.[Edited on April 1, 2008 at 11:15 AM. Reason : .]
4/1/2008 11:15:49 AM
oh absolutelythat's why i said "pretty hot"
4/1/2008 11:39:55 AM
why bother? It'll be sold in two weeks.
4/1/2008 12:28:06 PM
nah... and ^^yep. im finding them best bang for the buck car.
4/1/2008 1:15:18 PM
does it run yet. oh not best bang for the buck. j/k

I have a friend who ran two Evo 3 16G's on his VR-4 and is now looking to part with them. Interested? They probably have 1000 miles on them.[Edited on April 1, 2008 at 2:51 PM. Reason : obviously you only need 1]
4/1/2008 2:47:13 PM
oh and I cannot emphasize the fuel pump rewire enough. Rx-7's have the same voltage drop problem... I rewired my Supra TT pump and it made a huge difference. Injectors ran at much lower duty cycle because the fuel pressure didn't drop off.
4/1/2008 2:53:01 PM
I have a Walbro 255 for sale as well, because I upgraded to the Supra pump. I'll give it to you for a good price.
4/1/2008 2:54:11 PM
^^^^^^^do you have something new for us to talk shit about yet?^^^^^even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while.^how much do you want for the walbro and how much has it been used? i need one.[Edited on April 1, 2008 at 3:39 PM. Reason : no grammar or punctuation check, but almost comprehendable.]
4/1/2008 3:31:54 PM
I dont need any more parts. just some small shit here and there. everything that i listed in this thread has already been bought and im waiting for it to come to my house now.

4/6/2008 6:45:25 PM
now down to bare block. need a new flywheel, other one is messin some teeth.fidanza any good?
4/6/2008 9:31:05 PM
yeah, they're decent. i've never heard of any real problems with them. stock is fine too for your plans. just don't get one too light though whatever you go with. sucks for street driving. especially in a 4 cylinder.
4/6/2008 9:35:57 PM
the fidanza is 8lbs and i found one for about as cheap as an oem replacement.
4/6/2008 11:52:28 PM
before you rebuild that stock engine, might want to see how much they want for this Evo IX crate motor (they say they got stiffed by a non-paying customer, and will take any reasonable offer).http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/pts/635580864.htmlyou can either have it shipped, or i'll bring it to NC for free in about 2 months (well, the gas cost of me driving my truck down to seattle to pick it up, which would prob be $40 or so.)
4/9/2008 1:09:41 AM
i already ordered the rebuild kit. and this is the baller 6bolt engine, not 7 bolt. not sure if the newer evo 7 bolts are ok i think they are tho but the ones that came in 2g's sucked assthanks for lookin out tho![Edited on April 9, 2008 at 1:35 AM. Reason : d]
4/9/2008 1:34:50 AM
yeah man.the Evo IX version of the 4g63 is a killer. It'll sling a 3200 lb Evo through the quarter in the high 11s with about $1000-1400 worth of bolt-ons (filter, exhaust, ECU flash, and MBC) at 330 awhp. people make way more than that with it without getting heavy into the mods, and they seem to hold up pretty well.[Edited on April 9, 2008 at 1:40 AM. Reason : yeah, the 2g version is the one with crank-walk issues]
4/9/2008 1:40:13 AM
thats usually what happens in the pics above. owners have them so long with out them running that grass is growing on th garage floor. lolscant wait to see that unit run the dakota
4/9/2008 3:17:21 AM
