Two things the candidate who will win needs to do.

1) Proposal to lower gas prices or give huge tax credits to hybrid purchases to make them affordable for the average citizen.

2) Mortgage/Foreclosure Crisis Solution - Standing around blaming dumb consumers is not going to fix the problem, consumers are inherently dumb, they will borrow money if its taunted in front of them. When people in large numbers start losing their homes and investors lose money on real estate backed securities the whole economy loses. People need oppertunities to refinance fucked up mortgages so they can stay in their homes and keep them from saturating the market further as foreclosure listings.
