It was a (greenish) Camaro. It happened on Western right above where Warlock's Tattoo shop is. It looked like the car hit the embankment and flipped. When I passed it this morning around 9am, cops were everywhere and the car was still on its roof. I didn't know the driver past away, figured something like that would be something a person could walk away from (guess they could not have had a seat belt on).
That whole little intersection is horrible. I believe a couple months ago someone on a bike got hit there also, and I've seen a couple of other accidents there.

yeah i think that was the one in front of the green restaurante, and i passed that it was like 11 am
i saw a body on the ground, but thats just an accident

Believe it or not, it's a highway interchange, a 40s equivalent of an interstate exit - when US 1 and US 64 didn't bypass Cary and Raleigh.

Hillsborough becomes Chatam and Old Apex Road in Cary, and Old Apex intersects with US 64, so that's why I said that. And US 1 was Hillsborough at least when it passed by Campus.

now i've found an old map of raleigh, 1951

this is west raleigh. US 64 was western, as I thought. US 1 and US 64 split off in apex, where Salem St becomes, of course "Old US 1"
