Aight guys, i got a question bout an idea me and a buddy had. He wants to hook up a loud PA system on his car and doesnt want to buy a CB and use the PA output. So i got to thinking and came up with this...... Used CB mic ran to the RCA inputs of a small wattage car amp(like 50-200watt amp) then hooked up to two radioshack powerhorn speakers? yall think that would work good as strictly a PA system? Cuase we could hook that up for less than the price of the CB. Just wondering if it would work or not?

don't do this, unless your buddy is still in high school. it's unbelievably juvenile. and it gets old after 5 minutes, and people will hate him and you for helping him.

make sure this is legal toosome states are weird about PA systems and you have to hide them in the grill/underneath the car[Edited on March 26, 2008 at 2:12 PM. Reason : ^but he's right- i wouldn't do this Ø]

my friend had one in high school and freshman year, the best use we got out of it was the night when we beat UNC Yeah it is juvenile.... but that is ok with me.

well im pretty sure he could careless bout lookin immature. He knows it will get old, he just wants to have it there to use when he feels the need to be an asshole at a stoplight. And i know of several other folks with PAs on their truck and they aint ever got a got a ticket so........ What im still wondering is if it will work or not?[Edited on March 26, 2008 at 5:19 PM. ^ah ha i forgot about thatonly if the scenario is like that can you install the PA system

I can't tell you how many times I've wanted a PA system so I can yell at people who take 20 seconds to make a right turn, or drive 5mph below the limit, or won't make a fucking right on red when there's nobody coming (old people do this a lot). At the least I should make some reverse-printed speed limit signs to hold up.

^ yeah it would be nice for that reason also. I hate it when folks do that too. So for anybody with car audio and CB experience. Would it be possible to hook up a CB mic to the RCA inputs on an amp?
3/28/2008 9:48:09 AM
not unless that mic is powered

man this guy who was dating a girl at U House when I lived there had one of those but he was fucking hilarious. It'd always wake me up in the mornings which was annoying but he'd be saying stuff like "DUMB WHORE, GET DOWN HERE, YOURE LATE, YOURE LATE, YOURE GETTING FAT, etc"it was pretty hilarious the first 13 timesthen it got old

i mean ya i figured it would have to be a powered mic, but i mean how i would i hook it to the rca?
3/28/2008 10:43:16 AM
well most mics are low impedance and rca inputs are high impedance so youll have to work that one out
3/28/2008 10:47:35 AM
damn, i aint know that and i know pretty much nothing about electronics so unless anybody could tell me how to make it work, i guess ima just figure out another idea on how to make it work
