So I pretty much lost all my fun money for this year to caterpillar. darn motor has 54k on it and the turbo goes out? and of course that's 2k plus 3 days of downtime... wahoo. i'm think of just doing w/o the turbo and putting some nawsssss on it.

it doesn't have a warranty? i would think for sure it'd be at least 100k. nawzzz won't do you much good on a diesel without a decent amount of boost/fuel.

got the truck back today, 1500 for the part, the fins and everything were fine it was a diaphragm for the dump that was broken but for the c7 engines it's all one piece and sealed so can't replace just the diaphragm.... oh well. truck works great again and per the shop it's nothing I did just dumb luck... or lack of.

Yeah i was about to say that they're not even the same thing.... its like comparing food to stomach acid... inject both!!!but i knew i'd just get flammed so i kept my damned mouth shut. ]

the nawsss was a joke, I'm not going to screw w/ a 16k motor
3/25/2008 9:07:11 AM
Yeah but its no fun to let that go...Anyway... if it goes again you may want to have someone fab up an external waste gate for you and weld the internal one shut. so A. you'll have a better waste gate and B if it breaks you can just change it...(I'm assuming thats the diaphragm that broke but i guess if it was a variable vane turbo that it could have been for that)I'm also assuming its doesn't have to stay stock for the warranty or this would have been warranty work i'd think.
